Stayed for two nights during our tour of NZ North and South Island. There are just two very spacious and airy rooms at this modern architect designed beachfront property. We were warmly greeted by Patrick and Mary having driven down from taking the Interisland ferry to Picton. The rooms are on the ground floor and have full height glazing on the seaward facing elevation together with a large side window, giving the room a very nice light and airy feeling. In addition to the super king sized bed there was ample room for a comfortable seating area with a good sized television. There was a spacious en-suite bathroom with a large walk-in shower and, most importantly, plenty of hot water. At the rear of the room a kitchen range included a sink, tea and coffee making equipment and ample supplies including milk in the fridge, cutlery, crockery and glasses. Breakfast was delightful and served upstairs in Mary and Patrick’s own living accommodation. Ample muesli, fruit, yoghurt, toast and jams together with boiled eggs if desired. Breakfast was also an opportunity to hear about all the things there are to do in Kaikoura with tips about the best places to go, walking, driving or eating. Plenty of information enthusiastically given. General access was through the sliding doors on the front which led to a spacious deck with an outdoor seating area. There was also an off-road parking area at the back. Being on the beach road it was very pleasant to sit out on the deck or stroll across the road for a wander along the beach. The main commercial area of town is a short drive or a good walk away in one direction and the pier and onward to the point, coastal walks beach or cliff top walks, seal colonies etc. in the other direction. So in conclusion a very comfortable first class B&B in a good location and lovely hosts.

We recommend the Hamptons very highly. The room was nicely laid out, with a lovely beachfront view. The quality furnishings were very comfortable and the bathroom luxurious and in pristine condition. The breakfast was delicious and Patrick and Mary-Clare are wonderful hosts - very friendly, and happy to share all sorts of helpful information about what's available in Kaikoura. We were very pleased that we listened to their recommendation and visited the museum. The exhibition about the earthquake was excellent and covered events thoroughly from technical and human viewpoints.
We spent two very comfortable nights at the Hamptons and it speaks volumes that the idea of relaxing in our room seemed a very attractive option on a day when tourist activities were either cancelled or unappealing due to the weather.

Delighted we chose the “Hamptons” Patrick was a perfect host, the room was stunning, there are only 2 suites, both with lovely with sea views. While officially a bed and breakfast, the room felt professionally put together with thought and attention. It was as good as any 5 star hotel rom. A very very pleasant stay. Highly recommend.

The room was stunning and had a lovely view of the ocean. Mary-Clare and Patrick were wonderful hosts, very entertaining and provided a delicious breakfast with lots of choice. Make sure you try one of Patrick’s boiled eggs - perfect! The location is just a 10 minute walk from town so ideally located. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to anyone

High quality B&B. Well furnished, very comfortable bed, hot shower. Built 2013 so very modern. Nicely separate, so have complete privacy, joining Patrick and Mary-Claire for tasty breakfast upstairs in their kitchen. Breakfast toast, cereal, juice, yoghurt, fresh fruit salad, and boiled egg if you want one. Room has fridge in cupboard so can't hear it. Great wifi, great view of ocean, and if you get up early enough the sunrise. Location is short walk from Dophin Encounter. Thoroughly enjoyed our two nights and recommended.

Just one night here but wish we had longer! A lovely spacious studio room, modern, extremely clean and comfortable with beautiful views out to the water. Little extras like fresh flowers in the room was very nice. Friendly welcome and lovely breakfast. Easy walk to town. Thanks Mary & Patrick, will definitely stay again.

Our second stay at The Hamptons and it was just as enjoyable as the first. A lovely rooms looking out over the ocean and a great location. Patrick and Mary-Clare are lovely hosts and sharing breakfast with them on the top floor overlooking the ocean is a fabulous way to start a day. If we ever come back this way, we’d certainly hope to stay here again.

On a rainy day we were welcomed into Patrick and mary’s home
Although we were there only one night we very much appreciated their hospitality. They recommended a restaurant which was great. Also suggested we detour to Hanmer Springs for a much needed rest.
Their hospitality and breakfast were Devine. Recommend. Thank you
Sue and Jerry
