View from our room amazing. Own patio area to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and the view. Comfortable and spacious accommodation. Trevor & Polly made us very welcome and were extremely helpful with suggestions for dinner, Trevor pre booked our evening meals to avoid disappointment. Delicious breakfasts.

This is a fantastic place to stay if visiting Kaikoura .Location and views are outstanding overlooking the ocean and snow capped mountains in the distance. Our room was large, well equipped ,very comfortable and had a view of the wonderful turquoise sea.Trevor and Polly embody hospitality-from serving up yummy breakfasts to sharing lots of interesting infomation about the area and things to do and places to eat.One of the most memorable experiences of our holiday in NZ was walking round the Kaikoura peninsula-about 7 or 8 miles -and just being blown away by its beauty-Polly even packed us a little picnic to keep us going! Kaikoura is a physically spectacular place and we loved it-whale watching great fun and good range of cafes, restaurants and fish and chips-we had lovely meal in Green Dolphin. If we make it back to NZ ,we will go back to Kaikoura and stay here!

The guest house is set in one of the most beautiful places on earth. It is on a headland overlooking the sea with a view of snowcapped mountains to one side, absolutely stunning.
Penny and Trevor our hosts were great, very informative about the area, the breakfasts were brilliant.5 minutes drive to Kaikoura centre, which has some good restaurants and of course Encounter Kaikoura from where you can swim with dolphins out at sea. Miharotia is a perfect place to unwind, large rooms ,very quiet, all in all a great place to stay.Go check out the friendly seals down on the headland

We enjoyed our time at the Miharotia House. The hosts were very pleasant, and the breakfast was excellent. It was our first night of a two week trip in New Zealand so it was not until later when compared to other lodging that we came to the realization that it was overpriced for what you got. The rooms are nice enough, but not overwhelming. Clean, decent views from the rooms, but not the great views in the pictures. Bottom line is that its just OK, and you get nickel and dimed for everything. They charged for local phone calls, and you had to pay for bottled water in the rooms. Would not have been a big deal, but when you are paying a lot for what is advertised as luxury lodging you feel a little cheated.

We stayed two nights here on our honeymoon and enjoyed every moment of it. We were fortunate to be the only guests during our stay making it feel like "our" house. Trevor and Polly were really great hosts. The rooms were really spatious and the breakfast was superb. When we arrived it was foggy and it was not until the next day we realized the amazing view they have overlooking the Kaikoura bay. Wish we had stayed an extra night as Kaikoura is such a beautiful place with so much to do and see.

This property is a bit of a walk out of town up a steep hill. However, if you can do this, it is more than well worth it.
The owners are delightful and helpful and the accommodation is all it should be with great attention to detail.

Miharotia House has to be experienced to be believed.
The property is beautiful and very well kept. Our hosts couldn't do enough to help us, which was brilliant as we didn't know Kaikoura at all.
Polly collected us from the train station, showed us to our room and generally did more than enough to make us feel at home. Our room was incredibly spacious and our bathroom (with bath and shower) was immaculate.
Breakfast was delicious - homemade muffins, hot cross buns, toast, coffee, preserves etc and the cooked breakfast (eggs benedict/waffles with the trimmings) set us up for a couple of busy days on the tourist trail.
The snack selection basket in our room was a lovely touch, as was the hot tub outside, in which we spent some time relaxing and taking in the stunning scenary.
Our hosts were helpful, by telling us where to go and what to see....and always keen to hear about the things we'd seen/done during our days. Polly noticed us walking down the road to the lodge on one occasion, and stopped to take us back (a fairly steep climb had awaited us) and it was these types of acts that really resonated.
We would not hesitate to recommend this lodge - it's luxurious, peaceful and very welcoming - a truly wonderful place to stay.

This is a lovely place to stay. Trevor and Polly are great hosts and breakfast, rooms and views are tremendous.
Definitely do the Whale Watch trip when you are there as the sight of the sperm whales is an experience never to be forgotten. There is also a lovely cliff walk that can be done from the house.

Spent 6 weeks travelling around both islands of New Zealand (how lucky is that) staying in all sorts of places but I have to say that Mihatoria House stole our hearts. Kaikoura is heart-stoppingly beautiful as a place, the wildlife makes you feel as though you just stepped into a David Attenborough documentary and this house was so stunning it hit the top of our rankings. The views are to die for and the architect has designed wraparound glass windows forever so you don't lose one bit of it. The hosts are so friendly and so unpretentious and the hospitality welcome and warm and informative. Their use of wood and other materials to the highest standards creates an absolutely chic -as- you like interior.
The price is so reasonable for what you get you here I couldn't believe it. Try it for yourself.
