We've stayed in this motel several times and always enjoy going back. Large rooms, excellent amenities, clean and comfortable beds. The location is great, roughly half way between the town and the Pier Hotel. If you want a booking there, just ask the manager ;-) The view is the best, just to add to the appeal of the Anchor Inn

Excellent accommodation , very clean , good size room and very comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen. Perfectly located on the esplanade with magnificent ocean and mountain views.Friendly owners (Lyn and Paul) and staff always there to make your stay a fabulous one. Highly recommend this motel when staying in Kaikoura. 10 out of 10.❤️

So glad to have chosen the Anchor Inn for our Kaikōura accommodation - I would recommend it to anyone! We received a warm welcome from Lyn who took care of getting us a last minute dinner reservation (perfect for our 13th anniversary dinner!) down the road at the Pier Inn, complete with a shuttle pickup. There were absolutely stunning ocean views just out the front sliding glass doors, and I loved falling asleep to the sound of waves hitting the shore. The room was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. I hope someday I am lucky enough to return to Kaikoura and the Anchor Inn!

We stay at the beautiful anchor inn for our first 2 nights in NZ and it was amazing. The service was fantastic. Lyn and Paul are absolutely amazing host I would recommend them to everyone, infact we travel from Oamaru to Kaikoura for our last 2 night in NZ before flight home to Australia Tasmania. We have already booked our nest trip there can't wait to get back there the 2 crazy Aussie ❤️❤️

Welcoming, helpful, cheerful hosts who have beautiful sea front rooms with amazing views of the bay surrounded by snow capped mountains. They recommended the local hotel for dinner where we had a beautiful seafood platter. Comfortable rooms with everything you need.

The Anchor Inn located at the Esplanade in Kaikoura is a nice and clean motel. The view from the Executive Seaview rooms is unbelievable good. You look at the beach, which is very beautiful. The executive room is large and has a small kitchen with everything you need. If you want to do self-catering, you have every option you want. The only failure was the non-fuctioning of the vent pipe, which makes a long and intense winding after the cooking necessary. A parking place is in front of the room available with a designated number. The bathroom included a combined shower and bath. Towels are available in adequate numbers. Food can be bought in a supermarket nearby (5 Minutes to drive). The attractions of Kaikoura are also nearby - whalewatching (5-10 minutes by car), walks and trails (5-10 minutes). The motel is well located and well equipped.…

Loved our stay! Lynne is an amazing host who will go the extra mile for guests - something not often found in hospitality these days. Location is outstanding and the rooms spacious with comfy beds. The Anchor Inn was perfect. We saw an orca offshore just steps from the hotel and seal colonies are within walking distance. Lyn was welcoming and our room was spacious, sunny, and very clean. Lyn also had great restaurant recommendations.

A nice, friendly, warm and down to earth welcome from Lyn set the mood for a top overnight stay. After check-in formalities, we were advised of the eating options available. It was either a short drive, nice walk, or pick up service for the local 1885 Pier Hotel. The other strong advice was to make a dinner booking now, since Lyn was all over the limited bookings remaining. A quick call by Lyn to the pub had us checked into a perfect table with stunning views. We were then given a detailed overview of everything our room #4 had to offer and left to wait for our dinner pickup once we settled in. A great night sleep in a comfy bed - critical for weary travellers. In the morning, we were advised at checkout on a breakfast recommendation at Bernie’s Diner - a short drive, but not walking distance.
