Glorious night sky, and sunrise. A landscape photographer's dream, also because of Neil's photos gracing the walls. The rooms are spacious with a seating area and their own outdoor terrace. The lodge has been well planned including details like the placement of light switches and quiet closing doors. Luxury level comfort with peace, quiet and views. There is an open fireplace which would be a feature in the winter.

Our three night stay at Manukau Lodge was very enjoyable. We had a spacious room with a comfortable king sized bed, well appointed bathroom, two lounge chairs, desk and tv with sound bar, Netflix and movies. There is a separate lounge and dining area available for the sole use of guests. We took in the fantastic view of the mountains behind the lodge from the deck and outdoor furniture outside our room. It is a short drive into Kaikoura for activities and restaurants. Neil was a welcoming host with many other talents and interests who is very knowledgeable about the area.

We spent one night at Manakau Lodge and were blown away by the view, the service provided, and the delicious breakfast that Neil provided. We'd come back to visit in a heartbeat. It was the perfect location to stop at as we toured the south island of New Zealand.

I bit disappointed in this experience as I'd booked it for a special occasion. Nice enough room, in a peaceful location, but nothing overly special (although the showers are excellent). Unfortunately the owner was ill, so no breakfast provided. This is understandable, but I assumed (and confirmed by the check in person) that we'd receive some kind of refund, as breakfast was included in the price. I don't really care about the money in these difficult times, especially for tourist operators, but the offer would have been nice.

Beautiful lodge just 4 room with great views. Breakfast to die for and i probably will. Long way 11 km out of town and places to have diner. Not a great choice of good venues in town. Highly recommend this family run lodge.
