Ideal location if you're arriving by bus and don't have a car, about a 9-10 minute walk on the flat from the Intercity bus stop, and a shorter distance back to the beach. All the units have a view of the mountains, and at the end of the complex is some farmland with the most incredible sunset views. I was given unit 5 which was one of 2 fully accessible units on the ground floor (I didn't specifically request it) including a proper wet area shower and it would be ideal for anyone with mobility problems. A very comfy bed, and nice to have some softer (and not so massively high) pillows that seem to be the norm everywhere now. Very tidy, heat pump worked well overnight, and the only noise was some people in the neighbouring unit arriving back. Certainly didn't need earplugs. The hosts were wonderful, very welcoming and very helpful with local information (many thanks for the tips about where to get good photos!)

Greeted warmly by the manager who took time to enquire as to our travel to date and that of our future plans. Reception area was well stocked with information relating to the local area, but the manager was also quite willing to advise on any interests we had.
Room was on the upper level which enabled us to have an awesome view of the Seaward Kaikouras. Stunning to wake up to, and to look at throughout the day. Particularly while snow-capped. Having a balcony on which to continue their admiration was a bonus.
Studio room was large, inviting, and comfortable. Containing a large comfortable bed, chairs, and a table on which one could work on.
Kitchenette was large and well stocked with both utensils and complimentary beverage (tea/coffee/drinking chocolate) sachets.
Bathroom was large and contained an awesome shower over a spa tub, leaving one to have to make the agonizing choice between a heavenly high pressured hot lavation or a lengthy immersion amidst bubbles. Both are guaranteed to bring you into a state of tranquility.
A profound value for money.
A decision to overnight here on our way home (a mere two hours away) has already resulted in making bookings to return for an extended period.

Convenient to whale watch and seal beach location and 5 minutes from city center, this motel is clean and roomy with two full rooms with king and two twin bed rooms. Nice kitchenette, fridge, microwave, dishes etc. parking directly in front of unit.

We stayed here for just one night and it was perfect for our needs.
You get a dedicated parking space next to your room (some are up a flight of stairs). Check in was simple and we were up in our room very quickly.
Room size is good with a kitchen area with job and fridge - though we didn’t use the kitchen. It’s a short walk into the town for food in the evening and very close to where the whale watching boats go from.
Just what we were looked for.

I stayed here for three nights with my husband and two kids in a one bedroom spa unit.
The owners were wonderful, really friendly and welcoming.
Our unit was at the back of the complex and really quiet. We had lovely views of the mountains.
The room was immaculate and very well set up, the kitchenette had the right amount of crockery and cutlery and utensils (should you want to cook). The beds were very comfy.
The bathroom was good and the kids loved the spa bath,
My only complaint was the lack of accessible power points in the bedroom, they were behind the beds which were hard to move.
The location is great - so close to town. We only took the car when we were heading over to South Bay to find some seals.
Overall a lovely place and we will certainly stay again when we next visit Kaikoura.

The rooms are furnished in a modern contemporary style that is a refreshing change compared to most motels. The beds are very comfortable and the shower room is just perfect. Air conditioning is a real bonus as it is possible to close all the windows and eliminate traffic noise. Location is ideal with an easy walk to shops, cafes and the tourist shops in town.

We stayed one night in August and found it to be expensive for what it offers. The motel is located about 15 minutes walk from the center. The room has the bare essentials and you don't feel comfortable (in the room there are many signs of prohibitions). They should also do better cleaning.

We stayed for 3 nights in a
2 bedroom apartment. The apartment is spacious with a lounge and a kitchen is big with a standard size fridge/freezer which is a big plus if you need to freeze your fish from your fishing trip! A spacious bathroom too. The place is clean and well ventilated.

We had a 2 bedroom apartment on the ground floor, it was very small and tight but clean and tastefully decorated. The bedrooms had tvs and the wifi was fast. This motel is on a busy road and does not have a nice outlook. The ground floor sliding door opens up to a garden but there is no privacy. We had issues with our lock but nothing could be done so we had to walk around the back and use the other door. Reception was locked up when we checked out.
