Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed for one night as whale watching in the area. The site on the whole is a dump; it’s tired and run down and communal areas are absolutely filthy. Whilst staying there was work being undertaken on the motel roof; it’s gone 6pm and the hammering/drilling and shouting between workman continues. For people who have paid to stay here this is inconsiderate and rude.

Not a “luxury apartment” as advertised and sold, more a run down freezing, uninsulated old quality building with average deco. Old wall mounted fan heaters not enough to heat the rooms.
Not we’ll run. They did tell us it was busy but when our parking was taken by other guests, not remotely interested in sorting
Not worth the money

We couldn't get into anywhere else so this is the place we had to stay for 3 nights.
So overpriced and horrible.
It ruined our stay in Kaikoura.
Furniture is old, broken or rusty, room in our studio cabin was dirty, glasses dirty, windows and door filthy with dust and dirt.
The lighting was poor.
The showers and toilets open onto the kitchen. So grose.
The family room/tv room was poor, almost 3rd world stuff.
This place seriously needs a major renovation and need to drop the prices now.

Stayed in Kaikōura for one night and booked on the same day. Was a busy but quite sure with plenty outdoor space.

Indoor space was large and spacious. Bed was separated from kitchen / living room area by a wall which meant it was really quite and I had a great sleep

Power in shower was decent with hot water

Note there is no sea view 😀

We stopped here for 2 nights on our way down to Christchurch.

Lady at reception was very efficient and accommodating. They managed to sort out a change to our reservation last minute so that we could accommodate an additional traveller in our suite.

All facilities were clean and tidy when we arrived and we were well placed for visiting the shops, bars and eateries in the town.

You get a bit of road noise if you are stopping in one of the units at the front although traffic noise dies down later in the evening.

Would stop here again.

When we arrived there was no one in reception so had a number to call.. lady came down stairs in her dressing gown looking like she had just woken up, this wasn't a problem for us but it's unprofessional and I can see that if the wrong people walked in with her dressed like that they would not be happy.

Room was really nice, bed was super comfy.

Panel heater in room did not work. Had it on for 12+ hours and was cold the whole time. Tiny radiator heater in the lounge that kept shorting out and sparking in the middle of the night.

It was a freezing night, lucky their were electric blankets.

Nice amenities in the room, think we were the only people staying there... place is very run down from what I could see.

However, it is in a great location in terms of closeness to town. But there are trucks going through every hour of the day so makes it hard to sleep.

Also, there were dirty cups in the cupboard, photo is attached.

Overall, I wouldn't reccomend and wouldn't stay here again. Wish we read the other reviews before booking.

The two bedroom unit we stayed in had been extensively upgraded recently and was nicely furnished and very clean. It was very good value, being walking distance to restaurants, bars, and the whale watch office. There is road noise at night, but that goes for all the accommodation places along Beach Road.

The motel has just been renovated, the suite is excellent for comfort. We came from Australia and was very happy to be able to stay here. Since the motel is a new renovation, the beds and the rooms we stayed in was very clean and polished. The comfort level is superb!

Ohh no no . Drove in connected power , went to checkout the facilities. Probably better facilities in a old prison than this place , dark dingy , cinder block showers . Unhooked power and drove back out. Nasty . Rather waste $60 than stay somewhere like that.
