Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

The Kaikoura Quality Suites boast a modern atmosphere with rooms that are not only spacious and comfortable but also applauded for their cleanliness and contemporary amenities. Guests consistently appreciate the hotel's value, noting its fair pricing and prime location.
While the service is frequently celebrated for being attentive and friendly, some travelers have noted that the walls can be thin and the room layout offers limited space for toiletries. Despite these minor points, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with the hotel's welcoming vibe and clean, well-appointed rooms standing out.

Detailed Reviews
This is a pleasant accommodation... very clean, accommodating and the bed was comfortable... we stayed in a studio on the back and it had a large shower which we loved.
We requested a french press/ plunger because it did not come in the room and the manager was happy to provide it.

January 2023 we visited Kaikoura and chose to stay at the Kaikoura Quality Suites. Honestly from the pictures we were not sure, but we were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the rooms and the updated furnishings and bedding.
The room we stayed in was very comfortable and much more up-to-date than many we have seen in our travels over the last few months. Also, a major benefit was the kindness of the owners. When we arrived they called to make dinner reservations for us at the Cray Pot, (which is great). Everything was really busy and we were so grateful to have a nice place for dinner.
The location is up away from town, but very near the new grocery store. It was only a short walk to a few very nice eateries including the Beach House Cafe (which is great for breakfast).

The best place to stay in Kaikoura!!Located north of the town but an easy cycle or drive into town. We had a gorgeous room with ocean views. Attention to detail was exceptional and the hosts went out of their way to make our stay memorable. We will definitely be back and would only ever stay here. Absolutely recommend!

We booked this as wanted to stop in Kaikoura and as it was a hot day we chose this because it advertised its rooms as Air Conditioned, however when we went to the room there was no A/C and the room was very warm.
Saw the manager & told him we booked because it was meant to have A/C and told him it was false advertising and asked for a refund. He stated he would arrange this.
We eventually found another motel & shortly after got a txt from the manager stating he had sorted out the problem and offered a free night’s stay.
Regretfully we took him up on the offer the following day. The curtains over the ranch slider are semi-transparent and the other windows have wooded venetian blinds. Also there are gaps all around the door.
The outside lights shine into the room all night & by 6 am its almost daylight inside.
Also in the early hours a train passing close by will wake you up and sounds like its inside the room
To top it all, after we had left (leaving all the dishes and cutlery we had used washed and drying) we received a txt from the manager asking if we had picked up their kitchen utensils & bowls by mistake! We responded stating that we hadn’t and would never do such a thing and asked for an apology to which he responded that he wouldn’t apologise as he hadn’t accused us of anything.
Do yourself a great favour by not stopping at this place, there’s a much better motel closer to the town centre on the same road.
Very poor customer service and low quality.

You are just one of those guests that nothing is ever going to please you. You had it explained to you that the motel was under new ownership and a new website had been set up for Motel, sadly there where a few error's made on the site. You were not willing to listen to anything that was explained to you. Yes we refunded your money and offered you a free nights stay to apologize for their mistake. As for the missing bowls you had a camper van and we thought they may have got mixed up with yours. No one was accusing you of anything it was a simple question. As for your comment of poor customer service and low quality, that is your opinion. There is just no pleasing or reasoning with some people and you are one of those people. Hope your week gets better:)

Well sized, modern rooms. An easy walk into town. Friendly staff.
Large bathrooms with heated floors. (No ceiling fans though for warmer days.)
Internet access is very slow. Rooms towards the back will get some railway noise. Bathroom water from upstairs rooms can be heard in downstairs ones.

We stayed at Kaikoura Quality Suite 5 years ago(before Kaioura quake). It was great memories so we re-stayed again but big DISAPPOINTED!!!
Owner changed room location because of noisy of roadworks which is good bit except that not really good experience.
1. Water Jug was awful. It hasn’t been clean correctly for a long time(Photo added) so disgusting to drink.
And also man owner didn’t say and apologize when I showed the jug and complained. He just said “ should clean” that was all.. where is SORRY!!!
2.Shower— clean terribly.. all old yellow stains on the inside shower edges(frames)
2. Room heater made lots of noise so couldn’t sleep the fist night. It was rainny and quite cold day so we need heat bit only one option, noisy heater whole night.
They need to look at their cleaning process...
Quality has to be depends on cost of motel per night.
It is shame, before was very good but not anymore so never come back to them.

Big room with basic kitchenette and bathroom. No aircon or fan though and it was a hot evening. Manager very helpful with eating suggestions though if you are looking at higher end restaurants, book ahead. Local pub Lobster Inn was surprisingly good despite surroundings. Quite noisy with road traffic and close to the railway track – though a train was coming through the room in the middle of the night! Good laundry and wifi. Supermarket 5 mins walk away and next to road to get to the beach. We arrived / departed by train for whale watching trip and despite location being 25 mins from town, we walked there and back and local taxi firm were very efficient in moving us and luggage.

Amazing value for the quality of a motel like this in Kaikoura. We stayed in room 18, had a balcony and an amazing view of the sea. Room was a studio, big enough, nice bathroom with toiletries provided, galley kitchen perfect for making a hot brew or toast. Very comfy bed, nice linens. Super friendly staff, very clean, heaps of parking. Not in the middle of the town which was a benefit. Being a back Unit very quiet. Small problem with a light bulb that didnt work, duty staff went out of their way to provide a different lamp, then followed up to make sure everything was ok. Amazing service

This is a quite clean, and nicely appointed motel style place, with a quite big room, patio doors to an inside courtyard that seemed inviting, even had a barbeque spot in back.. There was also a door to the back by which we could leave our car and made for easy transfers. The Lobby had several added things like coffee and some games, but was closed at 8PM as I recall. The manager was friendly and helpful in directing us to close restaurants, and how to get downtown and what was of interest there.. The hotel is on the main highway and backs onto the ocean, but the problem was location, it is quite a ways out of town, so seemingly only one restaurant close by--if it were better positioned it would certainly merit 5 stars.
