This is a fabulous small motel with friendly, personal service. The facilities are newly renovated, and everything in our room seemed brand new. We had a one bedroom unit (room 7) with a large common room that had a full-sized sofa and chair, along with a twin bed and dining table and chairs. The kitchenette was great—it had four burners, a microwave, fridge, and all the kitchenware we could need. The queen bed in the bedroom was very comfortable. Les and Maree are fabulous hosts, and really care about their guests. They were very helpful and friendly, and gave great recommendations about what to see on the way to our next destination.

It doesn't have ocean views, it's not in the centre of town, and its certainly not on a busy highway. So, why is it a secret!! Well, its in a quiet residential area and you would be lucky to find it, unless you were actually looking for it! We were fortunate to know about it because we did our research and we were just looking for an overnight stopover on our way down the west coast of the south island - a comfortable place to rest your weary head for the night and then begone early next day. Well, we thought we were back home when the McGillicuddy's next door started the mechanical sheep to trim the lawns while we relaxed with a cold one in the BBQ area - the smell of fresh grass clippings, combined with the nose of cheap champagne, VB beer, and, the hope of the group of four,

Stayed at this motel in April on our whirlwind tour of the South Island. The motel has been taken over and completely renovated, we were the first to stay in our unit since the renovation, the units are beautifully fitted out and the one we stayed in had a Spa bath, lovely! The owners, Des and Marie, were really kind and hospitable and Marie makes a point of leaving some of her homemade fudge in the unit as a welcome to her guests. We were fortunate the night we arrived as they had some friends staying, they said they had too much food and invited my sister and I to their barbecue, real New Zealand hospitality. I would highly recommend this little motel, Marie and Des are very experienced moteliers and are building up their new business. The price was great too!! Exceptional
