Detailed Reviews
This is such a nice B&B, run by a couple that truly cares that you have an optimal experience. They made sure that we knew exactly what the best options were for experiencing the local tourist sites, and referred us to a really good restaurant nearby. Breakfast was superb, and we would highly recommend Teichelmann's as the place to stay in Hokitika!

We only had one night here and would have loved a longer stay. We had a very comfortable room with everything one could ask for. A well equipped ensuite bathroom. Breakfast was delicious. Frances and Brian made us feel very welcome and we were extremely comfortable. We loved to read about the history of the house and Brian had a host of stories to relate - all with great humour. It was easy to walk around the town and there was much to see. The only disappointment was not being able to visit the Museum which was exactly opposite the B&B. It had been closed due to the earthquake! A really lovely place to stay and wish we could go back.

Cozy room on the second floor with a steep staircase up. We had a private bathroom but one of the rooms had a private bathroom in the corridor. Good location, close to everything. Helpful and friendly hosts who offered Sherry. Fantastic breakfast where we really can recommend Egg Benedict.

We were recommended a stay at this B&B an we were not disappointed. Brian & Frances were perfect hosts and very friendly. A cup of tea on arrival and a nice chat on our return in the evening. The highlight was the breakfast next morning which was well cooked and the fruit compot was fantastic.
The owners tend to only take a few guests so you would have to book ahead.
the B&B was right opposite the Museum and in walking distance to all the restaurants, bars and beach.

My husband and I loved staying there. It is too bad that our stay is so short. The owners are super friendly. Our room was facing the back yard and it was nice and quiet. Our room was clean, the bed was super comfy and warm. The house is located in downtown a block away from the beach and close to all the restaurants/shops. We had Indian food for dinner, which was pretty good. btw, the owners are not interested in last minute showing up without reservation because it would make the workload unpredictable. So, if you want to stay there, you would need to make a reservation.

Francis and Bryan could write the book on how to run a B&B and keep their guests happy. We stayed here for two nights and if we ever return to NZ, will definitely come here again. Their breakfast was quite substantial and excellently prepared. Our room was a bit small but it was what we chose to be on the first floor plus it's a historic home which is what we love. Our hosts gave us great ideas on how to use our time wisely and where to eat. Bryan even took us to his Rotary club meeting which was a wonderful experience.

We stayed for two nights in October and had a really pleasant experience. Francis and Brian were the perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were great with many homemade ingredients and a relaxing atmosphere. I would certainly recommend a stay.

This B&B was a pleasant surprise on the West Coast of New Zealand. We were driving from Abel Tasman to Queenstown and Hokitika was the perfect place to stay midway. Brian was the host for our stay as his wife was away at the time. He could not have been more charming and helpful. He did an exemplary job of cooking breakfast and we enjoyed the meal along with two other guests.
We were only in Hokitika for the morning and Brian gave us advise on the best shops to go to for local crafts. We also bought a piece of green stone from a local artist that exhibits at the B&B. Price was very reasonable and the designs were simple and just what we wanted. Our trip to New Zealand was fantastic and Brian helped to make it most memorable for the hospitality New Zealand is known for.

We were making our way along the western coast of the South Island, New Zealand from Queenstown on our way to the Golden Bay area. After a long day of driving we made it to Hokatika and Teichelmann's Bed and Breakfast. The New Zealand summer tourist season was over and the town was quiet but the beach was roaring with beautiful surf. It is a wild coast line with incredible driftwood washing up on the beach. We viewed creative sculptures made with the driftwood as we walked the beach at sunset. We went to Teichelmann's and were greeted by the charming Brian and Frances, our hosts. They showed us the cozy downstairs living room and dining area for breakfast, offered evening port and sherry. We were taken to our rooms upstairs decorated with coastal feel. We got great suggestions for dinner and had a wonderful meal at nearby Stumpers. Returning to our rooms we got a wonderful sleep to the sound of the ocean, in very comfortable beds and beautiful linens. We had an incredible proper breakfast with homemade jams, local butter, fruit compote, oh it was just amazing! Frances and Brian shared the history of the house and town and sat with us while we ate. We were so sorry to not be able to stay another day or two. We highly recommend Teichelmann's!
