Excellent place to stay. Hokitika is a quirky little town, worth spending some time in. Great fun to sit outside a coffee shop and people watch before heading off to the Hokitika Gorge for a “tramp” about. Frances and Brian are wonderful hosts, the bedrooms are really homely and comfortable and breakfast is top notch. Definitely 5*!
Only stayed one night, wish it could have been longer. Olde worlde, historically interesting, spotless comfortable accommodation. Friendly hosts, tasty home cooked breakfast items. Even a welcome pot of tea and home made biscuits on arrival! Couldn’t ask for more.
We stayed at Teichelmann's for two nights after travelling to the West Coast on the TranzAlpine Express train. Frances and Brian, our hosts, could not have been kinder. The cottage has a very comfortable bedroom, an outdoor seating area, and a large bathroom with a corner spa bath and a picture window looking out on a tiny tableau recreating a miner's hut. Both she and Brian are knowledgeable about the local area and very interesting to chat to. Breakfast was taken at a communal dining table, offering an opportunity to discuss plans for day…
We had two nights at Teichelmann's in the cottage and truly could not fault any aspect of our stay. The attention to detail in the decor, bedding, ambience, cleanliness and the wonderful hospitality was first class. However this was even over-shadowed by the beautiful breakfast setting and food. Frances and Brian made our holiday very special. Thank you.
Teichelmann's Bed and Breakfast is our favourite place to stay on the West Coast of New Zealand. This delightful historical property is the original home and surgery of Dr Teichelmann, and owners Brian and Frances are on hand to give the history of the premises. Our recent stay at Teichelmann's B & B was our 4th visit, and once again, we were accommodated in The Cottage at the rear of the property. An absolutely delightful stand alone en suite room, in a garden setting, beautiful linen and such a cosy warm place to stay. Brian and Frances are wonderful hosts, and at breakfast, each morning, there is a wide choice of continental and cooked breakfast choices. Nothing is too much trouble for these hosts, and we are always made to feel so welcome. They know the history of the…
