This was our very first experience of ‘glamping’ or glamour camping, and what a wonderful experience it was, thanks to all the efforts and care by Wendy and Fletch. To live without electricity and cellphone or wifi coverage was special. The breakfast hamper was superb and generous. The fireplace certainly adds to the charm and was a highlight. The actual tent was much bigger and better than I had imagined it to be. The kitchen is good. The water pressure in the shower is excellent. The outdoor bath is very nice. But it was not ‘shower under the stars, due to continuous rain. Huge nice umbrellas and gumboots are provided for guests’ use. There are many other special touches, which I will let you explore yourself. Although there is no electricity and cell phone coverage and the place is set in the bush, it is just 15 minutes drive to Hokitika town. I would highly recommend this experience to any couple.…

Wendy and Fletch are great hosts. They have the Nest kitted out with everything you need. Wendy also makes delicious bread, coffee and treats. AMAZING!!! We made use of the fire pit to roast marshmallows and soaked in the outdoor bath. A great place to recharge surrounded by beautiful scenery. We highly recommend this as a place to stay. THANK YOU!!!

Not quite up for camping? Then try glamping! Surrounded by nature, in a tent with a bed, beautifully layered with a number of blankets as soft as clouds! There’s a table and chairs and a sofa AND a log burner! There’s also a bath - outside! You’re next to a river and surrounded by trees, it’s a calm oasis away from the hustle of day to day living. The hosts, Wendy & Fletch are most welcoming, always nearby if you need anything. We went hiking, biking, napping....we explored the nearby adventures - glow worms, tree top walks and the gorge to name a few! 3 nights was just enough to switch off and unwind. Also, Wendy roasts coffee onsite! Quite honestly the best coffee I’ve ever tasted! I’ve since gone online and bought a bag so make sure you buy before you leave! We would LOVE to return next year and highly recommend a visit! …

Wendy and Fletch were so welcoming and we felt like we were on holiday straight away. The nest is so cosy and all the extra touches make it very special. Marshmallows to toast over your outdoor fire looking over one of their little lakes, an outdoor bath under the stars, home baking on arrival and amazing coffee (roasted onsite by Wendy!) and even a loaf of hot fresh bread to wake you up in the morning, what more could you ask for! Definitely bike to Kaniere Lake up the Wilderness trail, it's so beautiful and an awesome slice of West Coast history. Hurunui Jacks is a wonderful spot and you will not regret visiting this place, in fact, you won't want to leave! Thanks, Wendy and Fletch, we will be back!

A beautiful, peaceful, magical setting. Perfect for a weekend getaway to explore Hokitika and surrounding area. We were greeted with a very warm welcome from Maureen and Dennis (the dog!). We loved the homely touches for breakfast, and the calm that The Nest had to offer. Thank you so much!

Really well thought out ‘glamping’ accommodation. Once we arrived we didn’t leave the beautiful, private campsite. I can’t think of anything that would have improved it. Total bliss. Thank you Maureen.

We stayed at the Nest, small accomodation just near the house, which was a lovely gem. Maureen is a super host and was so helpful and couldn't be more accomodating. The unit is clean and has lovely linens and the added bonus of an outside bath, perfect for luxuriating with a glass of red as the sun went down....wonderful! It was just before Christmas and Maureen had left Christmas crackers, chocolate and fruit mine pies, a lovely touch, Thank you!

Last minute booking for a night away from Christchurch, stayed at "The Nest", by the main house. Tidy little cabin, outdoor bath and shower were amazing. No one else was at the glamping site so got to go for a wander to check out the river and the tent, making plans to get back there when possible! Hosts were lovely, and all the little things have been thought of. Thank you for your hospitality :-)

We had a lovely time at this glamping site. We cooked over a fire (there was gas), and bathed outdoors. Plenty to do nearby, or just spend time relaxing. (We visited the Treetop Walk). No cellphone reception was a bonus. We would highly recommend trying this type of holiday.
