The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff (Gladys) was amazing and offered extra activities around the area for us to enjoy. She always had a smile. The location is fabulous close to the town centre and the beach.

We stayed in the Driftwood Room. Having to carry up our suitcase 2 flights of stairs wasn't easy. Would have been nice to clean our dishes with something besides one sachet of dishwashing liquid - maybe a cloth or dishbrush ? Having to do the dishes in the bathroom sink wasn't hygeinic nor was the basin big enough. Prices on the Restaurants Menu and the menu that the room provide are different , so are some of the dishes - this should be updated as very misleading and disappointing when having a meal there. We had Dinner at the Restaurant and was disappointed as paid for the Ribeye which said it came with vegetables and only came with 2 florats of broccoli and 6 chips! I had the Salmon, had plenty of veges and tasted lovely, The garlic bread was excellent. Unfortunately we won't be staying again, didn't have the best experience.

Having stayed here before which we enjoyed, we checked online to see if there was accommodation at last minute on Waitangi weekend. There was a room advertised on hotel.com for $130 - perfect. Drove to hotel to book direct to be greeted by a very surly lady on reception. When I enquired about accommodation she said we have a room for $250, I informed her it was just one night and all we needed was a clean room with a shower and we didn’t want to pay so much. I checked the website as thought I had made a mistake, but no it was still there at $130 so I returned and pointed this out. The receptionist very grumpily said you can have it at that then. The room was lovely, looked over the street not the ocean (not a problem as never return to hotel room until after dark when the view is gone anyway!). As a former hotel manager, I would be horrified to employ someone with absolutely no selling skills like this particular ember of staff. Bums in beds in quiet times is a must as, just as we did, we ate in the restaurant and spent more money in the hotel. This said receptionist did not ask for vaccine passport and anytime we passed by there was no greeting or eye contact. She did speak with an accent so maybe staff is hard to come by as we have never experienced this at the Beachfront hotel before.

Arrived before 4pm and found all car spots blocked with witches hats, restaurant fully booked and ocean view if you looked through the buildings at the back of the hotel. A car club received all of the "reserved" car parks and booked out the restaurant and filled all of the rooms with the ocean views. We paid for this privilege but were treated very badly.
Walked across the main street in the pouring rain to a noisy beer hall to get a very basic and tasteless dinner.
There are far better hotels/motels in other towns that are friendly, welcoming and treat all of their guests equally. Give the Beachfront Hotel a miss.

We booked one night trough a website and not directly with the hotel because the directly one would cost more. I thought support to local businesses is very important at the moment. We were very disappointed with our room. I made a complaint to the manager but his reply didn’t Answer my request. The level of cleaning is not up to standard. I won’t go back.

We stayed in an Oceanfront room with king bed. Very comfy bed with great pillows. Had a nice balcony with table and chairs and we were lucky enough to have great weather to sit out and enjoy the roaring surf. Decent bathroom and only complaint is that the shower was over the bath and it is a spa bath so a bit high sided. If you were elderly you would possibly struggle to get in and out. Two comfy chairs to sit in and plenty of space for luggage. There is a laundry at hotel and $6 will get a load washed and dried. Excellent location right in the middle of town.

Just finished a 2 night stay in the the Penthouse (it was meant to be 3 nights) but we chose to leave early for other reasons. The accommodation was good, bed beautiful and comfortable. I guess I was disappointed in not having our room serviced at all. COVID was used as the excuse, really when you were paying a premium room rate you can’t get your towels changed. I felt that the staff were very indifferent to us, reception staff did not go out of their way at all. Restaurant staff also were unfriendly and the food was very average. So all in all just an Ok experience.

At checkin we asked where we could park our car as front carpark was full, "on the street" was the reply. So we asked if there were any carparks at the back, "reserved for restuart diners" was the reply. Great first impression.
We got a room in the driftwood suit an old section of the hotel that has has a partial upgrade. It was hot & stuffy with no a/c, had to keep the windows open all night to get a resonable atmosphere, this let in all the noise from the courtyard below. Bad sleep both nights here although the bed was comfortable.
You had to continuosly log back into the wifi, as it either cut out or you were logged out, NICE touch.
Checkout had a sting in the tail, asking for credit card surcharge, unheard of these days in hotels.

Right in the beach at Hokitika, so it’s easy to take a quick walk along to famous driftwood sign or watch the sunset.
Very large rooms and beds, tasteful furnishings and everything you need is at hand. The heater floor in the bathroom was bliss, and the shower powerful and hot, hand-soap was beautifully scented. A lovely place to stay.

The hotel has a great location in Hokitika near the beach and has ample parking spots. We felt this was the perfect stop as we enjoyed the scenic drives between Queenstown and Christchurch. The hotel is nearby many of the popular eateries and shops in Hokitika and it is a nice walk along the seawall/beach to see some of the crazy waves and driftwood sculptures including the Hokitika sign.
We lucked out and got to the hotel during the Matariki celebrations in town so it was a bit tricky finding out way to the hotel because we couldn't go down the main street. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming.
The room was great, clean and very quiet. The room had a comfy bed, blackout curtains, a refrigerator/tea/coffee spot, an open closet and a small desk. The bathroom was very clean and I was happy with the large shower stall that did not leak.
We tried the Ocean View restaurant in the morning and would recommend not booking with breakfast at this time. The restaurant needs some improvement to the cooking but has very friendly service.
We had a great night's rest at this hotel and Hokitika is the perfect base for exploring the area including the gorge, treetop walk and the lake area. It is seemingly surrounded by beautiful scenery and we really enjoyed our stay.
