Detailed Reviews
This lodge is on the outskirts of Hokitika, set in its own 21 acres of mature trees and lawns. It is the home of Anne & Fraser and they are consummate hosts, making even overnights very welcome. By its very nature its well out of Hokitika township, making for a quiet and comfortable stay. Each accommodation it different, although each ensuite, and overlooks the grand gardens. Parking is amply provided, and our breakfast was beautifully cooked and presented, setting us well up for our journey south, past the glaciers to our next destination of Haast. We noted the lodge and it's untypical benefits, and vowed to include it on our next visit to the West Coast.

I stayed at Woodland Glen with my wife and another couple for a night in February. We stayed in the upstairs suite that had a lovely view of the garden and snow capped mountains in the distance. The hosts were very helpful for what to do locally and provided a wonderful breakfast in the morning. We would recommend to anyone wanting high quality peaceful accommodation.

We had a lovely stay at Woodland Glen - not only clean, comfortable and lovely accomodation facilities but in a beautiful setting.
The hosts Anne and Fraser where extremely accomodating, friendly and with a great sense of humour.
The breakfast had several options not only for food but even juices-and it was yummy
Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again or recommend it to others

Easy to find. Loads of room for safe parking. Everywhere on the property is well maintained, clean, bright and lots of areas visitors can utilise. The hosts are warm, welcoming and friendly. The breakfast is excellent. WiFi not great but probably unavoidable. Worth it despite being out of town if you want comfort, quiet and a great breakfast. Thanks

I wish I could just click my fingers and transport myself back to Woodland Glen! Husband and I enjoyed two nights being pampered by Anne and Fraser. We had the Moeraki Room - an exquisitely beautiful, spacious room which had a huge bathroom with walk-in shower. Adjoining the room is a conservatory which had tea and coffee making facilities set up for the Moeraki Room (a huge selection of beautiful teas), along with plenty of comfortable seating to enjoy your cuppa whilst overlooking the beautiful garden. There is a guest lounge (with TV - but there is a TV in the room as well) where you can mix and mingle with the other guests. There is a separate dining room where breakfast is served, and they offer a huge range of enticingly delicious continental and cooked options to choose from. And the coffee's great too! The gardens are beautifully maintained and there are lots of places to sit and soak up the peace and tranquility of the countryside. Anne and Fraser are very attentive hosts and have renovated the place to make it the beautiful oasis that it is. Everything is just immaculately clean, tidy and cared for.
We highly recommend it, and it goes without saying that we will definitely be back. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

Excellent quiet secluded location, wonderful property with super accommodating hosts who really know how to make guests feel welcome. We were in NZ four weeks and theirs was by far the most delicious breakfast offered! Frazier and Anne also provided many details and helpful suggestions for visiting the area. i.e. Always a good idea to check the tidal schedule when driving up to see the Pancake Rocks so one can be sure to be there for the high tide and best crashing of the waves. Can't say enough good things about these gracious, generous and knowledgeable hosts. Thanks for a lovely stay, blissful sleep and kind assistance. All the best to you and yours!

We enjoyed our two nights at Woodland Glen Lodge. Comfy bed with crisp linens, very clean room and private bathroom. The grounds are lovely and the location is quiet.
The hosts, Fraser and Anne were friendly and we shared some laughs.. They served a delicious full breakfast. We had bacon, eggs, fried tomatoes, homemade soda bread (yum) piping hot coffee, fresh fruit, cereals and juice.
They also provided information about sights to see in the area.

Just a fabulous place.
Clean & comfy room with lovely outlook over the gardens, good sized bathroom.
Breakfast was very lovely & appreciated by us.
Hosts gave us some welcome advice about local restaurants which are a short drive away.
We wish we had booked more than one night! Oh well, maybe another time!

Previous positive reviews of this property made any decision to stay here an easy one. It's easy to see why.
From the magical setting close to the bush to the very warm and personal welcome from Fraser and Anne, it was an outstanding choice.
Our room was outstanding and spotlessly clean. Beautiful bed linen and a large bathroom were much appreciated.
The breakfast was way beyond anything we had experienced in our travels and certainly set us up for the day.
These new owners will do very well here. Go and stay now before everyone gets to know about this real gem and you miss out...

On our road trip round South Island, we decided to stop over in Hokitika. We found this lovely hotel away from the town nestled in woodland. A very tranquil place with local birdlife and great views. The owners Frazer and Anne were very warm and welcoming and the property was immaculate and well appointed. Breakfast was beautifully cooked with fresh eggs from their chickens and homemade sour dough toast and yoghurt. Would thoroughly recommend a stay.
