Oak Lodge has changed hands since the previous 2 reviews were written, however the quality hasn't changed at all. Shirley and Alastair are now the hosts, and are friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and go out of their way to make sure you have a good stay. We were greeted with coffee and cake when we arrived, and invited to join Shirley and Alastair for a drink before we went out to find dinner in town. We stayed in the blue room, one of the smaller (and cheaper) of the rooms, fantatic value for money considering the facilities. We saw some of the other room when they were empty, and they all looked spacious and comfortable. The guest lounge was well equipped, with teas (fruit and normal) and coffee, the wireless internet quick, and the spa just perfect for relaxing…
My husband, 2 children (12 & 9 yrs.), & I stayed at the Oak Lodge Bed and Breakfast one night on 28 March. The lodge is about a 5-minute drive north of the town center of Greymouth and about a 25 - 30-minute drive from Purakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blow Hole. Our rooms were spacious and elegantly decorated. The home was truly lovely with a game room, massage room, sauna, outdoor pool & hot tub, and a guest lounge area overlooking the mountains and pastures. There were even small bowls of candy in each room and a little plate of cookies in the lounge area. Nothing was overlooked. Colette & Brian were very welcoming and…

This place could be used to demonstrate how a B&B should be run. It blends the luxury of an expensive hotel with the friendliness and intimacy of a B&B, and hosts Brian and Colette work hard to provide a welcoming atmosphere. Their house is awesome, each guest room is large and well decorated with huge queen-sized beds and en-suites, even giving a private balcony to relax on. They also have a guest lounge with coffee-making facilities and big leather couches to encourage guests to…
