Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is an excellent place to stay. The property is very well kept. The room we had was adequately spacious for one night, and had a very nice en suite shower and toilet. The location is a few minutes drive out of Greymouth in the countryside; very quiet and very pleasant. The owner is very friendly and made great recommendations for things to do, including driving the the "pancake rocks" along the stunning coast line. He also prepared a superb breakfast. A wonderful experience. The Lodge is shown as a homestay, which is accurate. This is not a regular hotel, but well worth staying there.

Very welcoming with great advice on where to eat out and what to see the following day.
Lovely room with a very comfy bed with good pillows. The en-suite bathroom had a good shower.
The breakfast was served at a time to suite us and included award winning sausages and bacon with free range local eggs, delicious!
Oh, and there was a pool table to use when we wanted, a sauna and a residents lounge with cost armchairs, plenty of books and coffee and tea with biscuits to help yourself to.
Thanks; wished we’d planned to stay longer 😊

We stayed in the self contained unit next to the lodge. The unit was clean, comfortable and extremely quiet . Good facilities so you could either do your own breakfast which we did or go over to the lodge which is an additional cost if you book the unit ( included if you stay in the lodge.

Out of 14 accommodations on our holiday in North and South islands of New Zealand, this was probably the best we stayed in. The host was magnificent and the quality (and quantity) of the inclusive breakfast as we stayed in the lodge was exceptional. The room was big, well equipped and comfortable.

Lovely place with good facilities and plenty of useful advice from host, Robin. Tennis and pool table available. Very good multi-level garden design with winding pathways, shrubs, trees and lawn. Bed and bathroom well done. Good first floor guest lounge with extra facilities. Excellent breakfast, continental and cooked with plenty of choice. Easy access to locality and beyond.

Low on bedroom storage and shower struggled at peak times.

Large room with balcony. Furnishing unfortunately a bit stale. Bathroom with shower okay. Location very good, off the road and very quiet. Ample parking available. Great breakfast. Landlord very friendly and helpful.

We spent two nights in the self contained unit. What a great space. Big bedroom with super king bed and ensuite attached. Lounge kitchen area was spacious and had fridge freezer and full sized range/oven. Unit had washing machine which was very useful. Great location only 5 mins from central Greymouth and supermarket. Oak Lodge has lovely rural views Hosts were lovely. Would definitely stay again if passing through. Thoroughly recommended

Very expensive for what you do not receive. Minimal heat in bed room with small electric radiator. Best to go down the road and find somewhere else. Nice sheep but owners have no experience in running a B&B.. They used to have a sheep farm thus guest relations and expectation skills are lacking. They charge big city rates for a poor quality experience.
