Wow! This is gotta go down as one of my top 3 stays in New Zealand. We were on a bike tour and after a long day ride, my wife and I got the royal treatment by our hosts (Susan and Robert). The lodge is amazing, with unforgettable views. Rooms are beautiful, spacious and modern. There’s a hot tub to soak in and relax while Robert works his magic on the bbq... I loved our one night stay so much, I was contemplating hard to not move any further. Big thank you to the hosts! This is how a home away from home feels!

What a beautiful place with stunning views. Our hosts certainly made us feel welcome and basically gave us the run of the house. Rooms were spacious and very comfortable and we had a very welcome visitor in Chocolate the cat. Highly recommended.

I have to agree with some of the negative reviews I read here - even though it is a nice location with great potential it is quite a let down for that much money. We found this place in the last moment and was quite pricey compared to other places in the area. Our room smelled quite badly from cigarettes (can assume previous lodgers used to smoke there quite heavily), the decoration is best described as 'trying to look luxurious but ended up tasteless'. Another problem was stairs to the bathroom - actually the lack of it. The bathroom is in a slightly elevated room but there were no stairs - only a slope which is quite slippery, so I found this quite dangerous . Met some wonderful people there and we moved on the next day but must admit it was our worst experience even compared to camping.

I had seen this lodge online and was very pleased when booked on the day at the i-site in greymouth. When I arrived a short vtime later, I was warmly greeted by my hosts Susan and Robert and offered a glass of wine. Susan showed me my room, which was fantasticly decorated as was the very large open plan lounge/diner/kitchen area. I had a tour of the large gardens. The rooms have patio doors to the garden area. I very much enjoyed an evening meal with the other guests and felt more like a family friend than a guest. Very highly recommended. Mark S. Manchester,UK

Worst experience ever in New Zealand renting a place. I was travelling down the west coast of the south island with a friend. We booked a kind room which was advertised as a suite with a king bed and a single bed and can sleep up to three people. We arrived to find we had instead a small queen room with one bed which was not what was advertized on the internet and for $154 NZD was quite expensive considering how small the room was. Room was advertised as a King Room with 2 beds and sleeping up to 3 and in reality was a small room with one Queen bed. When we pointed this out, the owner Susan said 'Its not my problem' but if you are not happy sleeping in one bed you can have another room at half price. We said no to this proposal pointing out we would like a room, as advertised. The response to this was to use very bad languages to us and say if we did not like it then we can leave. Talk about client service or lack of it. This was a shock to me and my friend but we managed to remain calm and negotiate to leave and find another place. Upon further observation, it turned out that the owner, Susan, had been drinking and appeared to be intoxicated and so we politely informed that we were going to leave and find another place. We obtained a note saying that we could get our money back and after many phone calls and long discussions with travelbug (site where we booked the accomodation) I finally managed to get my money back. So this is the worse experience I've ever had booking a hotel/motel in New Zealand ever. There was only one other guest staying at the hotel when we were there and now I can understand why. My advice is stay away ...

Response from craftloveinfinite, Manager at Infinity Eden Lodge
Responded 19 Jan 2015
Thank you for your feedback John, You failed to mention in your review that you had telephoned earlier on the day of your arrival and had advised me you would be arriving later in the evening. During this phone conversation you also enquired about the bedding configuration; I informed you that no Guestroom in the Lodge contained two beds. The advertising you had read via Travel Bug had been set up by a former Manager & has now been removed.

When we booked this accommodation online from the description of the accommodation we had the impression that this was a spacious "lodge" and not one of those B&B's where it can sometimes feel like you're intruding in someone else's home. As it turned out, Infinity Eden Lodge is one of those B&B's. We were given a small strangely fitted-out room at the back of the house which opened throuh a sliding door to an oudoor area that was in a shabby state of disrepair. The roof of this area had a gaping hole with a threatening piece of roofing hanging down and many of the plants looked dead plus the dirty ashtray with a cigarette butt didn't impress. Our room smelled of cigarette smoke and was very stuffy and the white bath robes had stains. The bathroom was cramped. On arrival, we had been informed by the owners that they were going out for the evening and that we were the only guests there but we were welcome to use the spa out the front, watch a dvd or use the free guest internet. We went down to Greymouth bought some food and the owners were leaving just as we arrived back. We decided to check our email account to find that the guests' computer had a 'Trojan horse' virus and a message showing that the anti-virus protection had expired. We then tried to watch a dvd and the dvd player wasn't functioning properly. We went back to our room, watched the tiny tv on the wall and had an early night and left at 6.00 a.m. the next morning to get an early start to our next destination. (we didn't bother staying for the continental breakfast which was included, as it wasn't available until 8.00 a.m. anyway). We were on the South Island for 17 days and without a doubt this was the poorest value for money accommodation we experienced the entire trip. However, on a positive note they do have a very nice cat and the views of the Tasman from the front of the house are great.

We arrived at Infinity Eden Lodge by airport bus from nearby Hokitika Airport for 2 days and nights on our Westland and Fiordland trip. We were greeted at the Lodge by hosts, Susan and Robert and as the sun set over the water we had a very nice supper of whitebait fritters and salad and a refreshing white wine! After a lovely breakfast in the charming dining/lounge area, Robert drove us to Greymouth where we collect a hire car. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The gardens were lovely and thr rooms comfortable and attractively decorated. Jenny and Mike, Brisbane.

Took forever to find this hotel....it is on a bluff overlooking the Tasman Sea. The room was clean, however, cramped and strangely furnished. We had arranged to have dinner in advance of our arrival advance but were advised when we arrived that dinner would not be served. The reason (which we later learned)....the owner had a good friend who had arrived and she obviously preferred to drink with her friend rather than take care of her guests. The owner obviously overserved herself and overslept the next morning -----serving breakfast late for all of her guests. Avoid this hotel like the plague!

Experienced the incredible scenery & experience of the Tranzalpine Rail from Christchurch to Greymouth, wishing to stay overnight at Greymouth before continuing on a tour of the west coast and fiordlands. After a night of luxury and incredible hospitality at Infinity on Eden with hosts Robert and Susan, felt like forgetting the rest of the trip and staying put! Snuggled under possum rugs, drank fine red wine and ate gourmet meals in front of the fire. Loved every minute of our stay and would return tomorrow. Everything was perfect.
