We ate dinner here tonight, yummy comforting pub food. I had shrimp cocktail and my partner had fish and chips. Substantial meals that we were happy with, friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Pub not far from the motel we were staying in near Rapahoe.

we stayed here and had a nice relaxing time in an historical old pub full of character. the cheapest beers around. clean and tidy rooms ,cabins as well. there is alsocheap overnight parking for campervans, tents, laundry. big lock up for motorcycles, which is great...just 1 km off the main west coast highway, only 7kms north of greymouth.. and of course the legendary southern hospitality we've come to expect flows to the wee hours.

We stayed at the Dunollie Hotel for the entirety of Covid 19 lockdown (8 weeks), and for a further 7 days in June, with our two young girls.

We found an oasis; a home away from home. Ross and Lynette are terrific hosts, with a tremendous knowledge of the local history and great social connections to the community. Throughout the lockdown, our girls had toys to play with and cooking to help with, and space to run around and be themselves. With Ross and Lynette's unwavering generosity, the Dunollie Hotel transformed what should have been an arduous couple of months into a much-needed break from life on the road.

The showers are excellent, the food is excellent, the beer is excellent, the prices are excellent. As well as the quiet and calm living area, there is a lively and welcoming community around the bar.

To stay here is to be immersed fully in West Coast hospitality and culture. Ross and Lynnette are legendary publicans, and the passion they put into the Dunollie Hotel makes the place sing. They are the best hosts we found during our 7 month tour of New Zealand. We live on the other side of the world, but we will be back.

So Myself and a Friend went travelling around the South Island in New Zealand, we had nowhere to stay for the night, found the Dunollie Hotel on Google, as soon as we arrived, Lynette made us feel extremely welcome, had dinner when we arrived which was excellent, and stayed at the Bar for Drinks after, everyone was so friendly, had afew games of Pool with the locals and had great conversation with everyone, Lynette and Ross were great hosts and cannot recommend them enough for the friendly atmosphere they provided. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely be staying for the night and to grab a drink with all the great friends myself and my friend made that night.
Fantastic.

Two days at Dunollie and we were smitten. We wanted a classic west coast experience and we got it here in spades. From the warm welcome in the pub from some of the locals as we checked in, to the characters living in the local town, the stories stretching back to the old coal mining and gold mining days. The awesome advice on an old coal mining bike trail out the back, how to find greenstone on the beach and the delicious food cooked by the lovely local chef.
The pub attracts many locals and it is busy as the old country pubs used to be. We miss that so much up north. Awesome

Went here for dinner on a Sunday night. Staff were amazing. Went above and beyond with service. The Landlady was just great. Food was beautiful and the locals made us feel at home. Awesome people. An absolute pleasure and a must if passing through. Highly recommended. Thanks to everyone.

As a kiwi myself a little bit disappointed because this wasn't NZ hospitality quite at its best. My friend and self had a drink but did not get the relaxation desired as the man at the bar was listening to us and projected his opinions about everything. The food was fresh and well cooked but one of us got a smaller meal for the same order. My friend said thank-you when we left but that wasn't acknowledged.

On the other hand it's quite a nice little spot and tastefully decorated. It is the poor service and the variation in portion size that leaves me a little bit disappointed.

A little gem tucked away 1 km west off state highway 73 between Rapahoe and Runanga north of Greymouth by about ten minutes. It is nestled under some low hills with plenty of surrounding greenery and has a nice deck for outdoor seating and is tastefully furnished inside. Chose from a good menu of Chinese dishes and was not disappointed - good to go somewhere that smelt good and where the taste buds were well treated. An old pub with good food / drinks, character and place to relax.

We were staying close by on a wet evening in Rapahoe when we needed somewhere to have a meal. We drove towards Graymouth and quite by chance came across the sign to Dunollie Castle Hotel.

We can not speak highly enough of the welcome or standard of food that we ate. It was Asian cuisine but all cooked fresh order. All of us agreed at the end that it was some of the best food of its type we had eaten and the bill was less than 80 dollars for the 4 of us.

The owners were very friendly and told just taken over. They told us that they had just refurbished the property and even though we were not staying there they took the ladies on a full tour including the kitchens.

We are now back at our hotel and all agree that if ever we are here again it will be the first place we would head for.

We can not recommend it highly enough to you.
