Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here for one night prior to boarding the Trans-Alpine Railway to Christchurch. We checked in at the front desk and Ralph was wonderful. So helpful and friendly. The room was large and very clean; not one water spot on any of the windows. They had a kitchen area that consisted of a cook top, refrigerator, microwave, tea kettle and toaster. There were also pots, pans, dishes, cutlery and utensils as well. The beds were good but the pillows were a little soft for me. The air conditioner was good as was the shower pressure. The shower area was very large but the shower head was fixed to the wall with no removable spray attachment, which would be a very nice feature to have. They did offer free drop off and pick-up to Monteith Brewery. We took them up on this offer and went there later in the evening for a tour and dinner, which was very nice.

Stayed here Queens birthday weekend 2020... friendliest staff, nothing was a problem for them, spotlessly clean and tidy unit, and the most comfortable beds. A very quiet setting, even fully booked we heard no noise from other guests nor any traffic. We can't recommend this place highly enough.

Superb accommodation in terms of facilities, comfort and service. Carol and Roger are great hosts who incidentally make a super tasty and value breakfast delivered to your unit when you want it. My wife and I will certainly stay at this accommodation when returning to Greymouth.

Stayed at Alpine Rose Motel in a one bed room apartment, we did the Alpine Kiwi rail scenic journey from Christchurch to Greymouth and decided to stay a few days to see the sites on the west coast of New Zealand.

Alpine Rose motel is clean, modern and in excellent condition, all amenities are of the highest quality, Carol and Roger who manage the place are real gems, both are helpful and advice you on the best places to visit . Every room has a car park which is necessary as Greymouth is a small town and not sure if public transport is available.

Will certainly stay again and I will advise friends to stay here too.

My husband and I stayed four nights as he did a couple of bike rides and were very impressed with the 1 bedroom unit we stayed in. The bed was very comfotable, great shower pressure, lots of room and extremely clean. Carol and Roger are friendly and knowledgeable offerring advice on places to eat and tips on what to see. They were willinging to give a spare towel in case it was needed at the end of the bike ride. We would certainly stay here if we come to Greymouth again

A warm welcome awaited us. We were shown into our unit (First one on the Right as you enter) which was enormous, spotless and sunny. Also have to say the coffee given was the very best on our whole trip. A little way out of the center of town but there was a cafe close by and the drive to the center was only around 5 mins.

We stayed here 24/02/2020 just for one night prior to taking the Tranzalpine train to Christchurch. There were 5 adults in our party and we stayed in a room that would have slept 6. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. Comprised 2 bedrooms with single beds and a double bed in the large living/dining area. Large shared bathroom and shower room. The property is on the road side but it was quiet during the night getting a little noisy early morning but nothing that would have disturbed all but the lightest of sleepers.
All in all a very pleasant place to stay and would be happy to come again if the opportunity arose.

We spent 6 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment at the Alpine Rose Motel. There is not one thing we could fault. The room was immaculate, very spacious, super comfortable and excellent value. Carol and Roger are terrific Hosts. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome, no matter how busy they are they will stop for a chat, enquire after your day, make sure you are enjoying your stay and that everything with your room is to your liking. The whole complex is a credit to them and their hard work. We highly recommend staying with them, we will definitely stay there again. Thank you Carol and Roger for your ten out of ten hospitality. Regards Jo W. Perth

We stayed here for a couple of nights. The room was a good size, comfortably fitting three adults. It was well equipped, clean and comfy. The motel is on the main route into town but don’t let that put you off. It was really handy to have a supermarket over the road, a very tasty bakery and eateries within a short walking and driving distance. Special mention must go to our host who was super helpful and great to chat to.
