We found the motel unit clean and comfortable with everything we needed for our family. We enjoyed the spa, which was a short distance away. However, the unheated pool proved a bit too cold for us. We left our windows slightly open while sleeping and enjoyed being lulled to sleep by the sound of the ocean. The on-site restaurant is a bonus, which we probably would have used if travelling without children, as this had been highly recommended. We found this a great location and an excellent choice for a family stay. The staff we interacted with were all very pleasant.
We stayed in an Executive Suite. The room was small and dark but the bed comfortable. Linen was clean. Our room was right next to the fire doors which was noisy, especially in the evening. The shower needed a good clean with bleach, otherwise the room was clean. We were rudely woken early by staff outside our room having a full on personal conversation in loud voices. Very inconsiderate to guests and highly unprofessional! Not somewhere I’d return to.
The room was a bit dark as it looked out to an nearby building. However the bathroom lighting was excellent but the bathroom needs some upgrading to match the nicely decorated bedroom. All the staff were very attentive and seemed committed to their jobs. Plenty of free parking on the street opposite the hotel.
Stayed at the Ashley Greymouth for a couple of weeks on business, amazing friendly staff at reception / morning & evening restaurant team. along with the kitchen crew. Rooms so tidy and clean. (Thanks Nisha for sorting out hamper lunches each day :)
Well it was my 60th birthday and they gave me a chocolate cake so I would always be awarding 5 (or more) stars! It was a really great stay though - we had a suite with fabulous comfortable beds - as the staff were lovely and the food was excellent (both dinner & breakfast) with great choice. For dinner we had fish sliders, beef & garlic/truffle mash, NZ lamb (natch!), fizz, beer, cake....heaven! Looked after superbly at breakfast by attentive staff. Really wish we could have stayed longer and explored Greymouth properly but the itinerary demanded we go on to Franz Josef...so much to see etc... Thank you Ashley Hotel!
