Stayed here for one night, as many others who stay here. I was greeted by one of the owners, Linda, who was charming and friendly. I accidentally booked for the wrong night but this was fixed right away. I found the stay to be cozy and unique with the welcoming of the people who worked there and the type of people who stayed. I hung out in the lounge room where Linda and Harry joined for an evening of conversation. We watched a movie together at night. I came when the coronavirus was brewing so there were less than 10 guests!
The building is quite outdated, including the bathroom. I never used the showers so I can't comment there. The kitchen was large but disorganized. The bedrooms are themed by animals. There are no lights or outlets near your bed. I had no problems with the internet. The location is close by to the city's shops. Parking lot is on the other side of the venue with at least 10 spots. I noticed there were several rooms that were more private and send more comfy but I can only comment as I stayed in a shared bedroom. No problems with smell but was cold and used the additional blankets in the room for warmth. It was a great one night stay but not sure the amenities would be good for an extended stay.

We stayed there for 2 nights in 2007, we couldn't go back that far. Must have been different owners and we stayed in off-peak so it was very quiet. It was clean and our double bed room was comfortable. Great historic building with such awesome interesting themed rooms. It was more than fine for us and reasonably priced compared to possibly finer hotels but this was way more homely, quaint and interesting. I believe the kitchen was as good as any decent backpackers. We weren't disappointed as were not wanting a millionaire accommodation hotel but a warm atmosphere.

I had a great time at Noah's ark. The rooms were spacious, everything was clean, kitchen was well equipped, so all the things you want in a hostel. Tgey also have a really spaciius garden, a tv room and a dining room. On top of that, they had a really cute cat and dog! The owners were some of the nicest people I've met, great to talk to and even had time for a little jam session. Definitely the best place to stay in Greymouth!

Reasonably clean and tidy, but 1980s colour schemes and decor, when it is a grand old lady that is now overdue for painting and redecorating. The bold, primary present colour schemes are very tired and dated, and take you back to the '80s. It would be nice to see the property renovated and brought up to date with classic softer and lighter colour schemes which the property deserves. RENOVATIONS WAY OVERDUE

Very friendly staff and good facilities. Family owned and everyone was so helpful. Nice vibe and good facilities. Close to town, had a nice sunny balcony and the place was huge. Very kind that we were late to check out and they didn’t mind or charge extra. Thank you!

Greymouth itself is definitely a stopover town. This hostel had friendly staff and OK amenties however our room was not comfortable. We were in the Zebra room right next to reception- there was no door to seperate the start of the corridoor from receptiom area so was super loud. The bed was very uncomfortable and the bathroom had no locks- the toilet and shower did individually but still pretty uncomfortable to go to the shower and a stranger could go to the loo next to you and potentially peer in.

Firstly I loved that this hostel is in a beautiful old building that now has a new life as a clean, warm and homey hostel for travellers to enjoy from all over the world. Secondly I LOVE that they have a beautiful gentle dog (which I may have encouraged on a regular basis) and a very cute cat that lazes around in various parts of the garden.
The owners are relaxed, the backyard space is encouraging to sit and read in the sun on the bench with a magnolia bush in bloom behind.
This hostel is an easy 8 minute walk from the bus/rail station.
I highly recommend to stay at the end of the transalpine train trip from Christchurch rather than doing the return journey on the same day.

One of the cutest and best hostels I've stayed in NZ thus far! The rooms are decorated in animal themes, I was in the Monkey room. The room and bed were comfortable and spacious; the kitchen was well organized and equipped. Not to mention that it is a very clean hostel, with very friendly owners and their cute dog. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who is travelling to Greymouth!
