Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What makes this B&B is the owner, Pam. She is very welcoming and provides good advice on local restaurants and things to do. Also, her baking is exquisite. Very good continental breakfast with fresh bread, muffins, and fruit. All rooms are in the main house so you feel like you are part of the family.

Pam Sutherland, owner, is an absolute delight. Cup of tea and home baked cakes on arrival! Comfortable accommodation and generous continental breakfast. Pam is the font of all knowledge about the locality and a lot more besides!

Not many landladies will greet you with a cup of tea and homemade cakes and then run you to and back from the nearest hotel so that you can have an evening meal without having to drive. Our large room had a lovely sea view. Breakfast included home made bread and muffins with a fresh fruit salad.

Very clean home and one of the most loving welcomes we've had, felt like long lost family, Pam is a delight to be around. We would've certainly liked to stay longer than just a night, especially considering the fabulous home made bread and muffins 😊thanks for a lovely stay in a very unique and cozy home!

We stayed one night while on the road from North to South and had a great time. This place is all about the privilege of spending an evening and morning with Pam, who in too many ways to describe is a remarkable person. I won't guess her age, she may still be in her 70's, but she has the energy and spirit is someone 30 years younger. A native Westlander she really gave us a feeling, even in our short stay, for the hard life people have lived in this area.

The rooms themselves are nothing special, but they are fine. And Pam makes a great breakfast. If you are one who likes to hole up in a room by yourself, or need elegance in your linens, this is not the place for you. But if you like people, you will really enjoy Paroa.

Was made to feel at home instantly! Old home but very clean. If it wasn't for Pam we wouldn't have had a place to stay the next night in the next town. She got on the phone and kept calling until she found one for us. Very friendly and welcoming!

I was travelling with my mum through Greymouth and we stopped at Pams place. There is not much to say rather then: IT WAS WONDERFUL. Nice and clean house, lovely oldschool furniture and fantastic stories. Will surely go back, when I'm ever in Greymouth again. THANK YOU!

We only stayed for one night and immediately felt at home at this cosy authentic B&B. The hospitality is great. The rooms and bathroom are nice and tidy and the bed is great. Breakfast is lovely and delicious with freshly baked bread and muffins, fruit, good Dutch cheese, jam and honey. You'll have a nice and warm memory of your stay at Paroa B&B.

Thank you so much Pam for a wonderful stay in Greymouth. Welcoming us with a lovely cuppa and home made baking. Lovely room and great breakfast. We did some of the walks in the area which was great. Arrived back to a cuppa out side and lovely home baking again. You are a gem!

Thank you for the great accommodation, Pam! Hubby and I were touring the South Island for our honeymoon and spent a night at Paroa Homestay - Pam welcomed us warmly and was a great hostess for our short stay. Room was very nice and the bed was comfortable. Short drive to town - overall all positive feelings! Thank you again.
