Rapahoe Beach Holiday Park is a favourite place for groups and families (including your furry friends) to spend your holidays and experience camping the old school way, literally in the grounds of an old 1930s school! Located just 11km north of Greymouth, this quiet, secluded location immediately on the beachfront offers a range of facilities and activities for your comfort and relaxation – all while being central to a range of popular West Coast tourist attractions. Favourite pastimes for visitors include swimming in the “school pool” or on the beach, gemstone hunting, fishing, observing the local seal colony at Point Elizabeth, checking out the amazing geological papa rock and limestone features on the rugged northern point, or whitebait fishing on the river nearby. Maybe you would just like to simply read a book from our library or teach the kids a few of the old school board games? There’s something for everyone. Motorhome and caravan sites (powered or non-powered), as well as tent sites available. Due to renovations by the new management, there are limited cabins and caravans for hire. These will be added to during 2023 as we continue to develop the grounds.

A rustic site on the edge of a wonderful dramatic beach with the best views. We were lucky enough to have a powered pitch over looking the beach. Best way to describe the facilities are that they are part of the charm of this place. Everything works. Used showers, laundry without problems just bring 1 & 2$ coins for the washing machine and the dryer. Wished we could have stayed longer than 2 nights but our impending return to the UK meant we needed to head back towards Christchurch. If you just want to chill and unwind for a few days immersed in the beauty of the west cost this place will hit the spot.

This was a really great location - right next to the beach and close to nearby towns and access to Pancake Rocks (45 min drive north). Facilities were clean and accessible with ease. Overall - a pleasant stay. Things like a free BBQ were a definite bonus.

although it met our needs. the place was extremely old and needed a really good deep clean. the kitchen was very good with supplies and showers were good although id not like to be there in busy times as only 2 showers available. staff were friendly and helpful. overall a nice place to stay but needed a good clean and a lot of maintenance needed.

Thanks for the constructive review. We agree with your comments re the deep clean - it's an ongoing battle with a set of old buildings. We are carrying out a deep clean right now in preparation for the busy summer season. Unfortunately we can't fix the "extremely old" part of the place - it's an old school built in the 1930s and we can't change that however you are correct - there is maintenance to be done, a sad reality with old buildings. Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

We have been coming to Rapahoe for years as we love the quaint little campsite and gorgeous beach. The new owners have poured so much love and effort into the campsite and we noticed huge improvements on this year's visit. We will be back.

Just wow ! Rapahoe Beach Camp site would have to be the best camp site we have visited on our travels so far (Gore Bay comes a close second) Hosts are very accommodating and chill at the same time. Don't expect Top 10 Holiday Park facilities but you have everything you need and more. Fires on the beach (which is literally a 4 second walk from the beach view sites) boogie boarding in the waves, dolphin visits and fantastic sunsets. Great day time activities near by - Hokitika Gorge is a small drive but well worth it. Coal creek waterfall walk is only a 15 min drive then a half hour walk to a great swimming waterfall pool, Point Elizabeth walkway is just off the beach and looks down after about an hour, onto a seal colony below. We could quite honestly have stayed here for another week!

What a wonderful "Old School Camping" experience it was, though we didn't really stay in our tent because of the wet weather. Instead, we booked a cute little cabin which seemed almost brand new. Very comfortable bed, everything was tidy and clean. There is a table with chairs in front, so you can have your meals, cups of tea and talk to the friendly neighbours. The communal toilets and showers are clean, kitchen facilities with plenty of pots and pans. A large dining room with huge windows that let the morning sun stream in, library and even a space and toys for children. Hosts Mike and Heidi are friendly and helpful. And, of course, a fantastic beach, with tent/campervan sites right up close to the rolling waves. 10 out of 10!

We spent 3 nights at the Rapahoe Beach Holiday Park and loved our time there. The facilities were clean and recently renovated. The owner and caretakers were working hard on renovations and their care and attention made our stay really enjoyable. We will definitely be coming back for our next West Coast getaway.

The location of the place right on the coast of the Tasman Sea is wonderful. Everything else, however, must be described as sad. The facilities are ancient and poorly maintained. Existing outdoor facilities such as a children's playground and sports fields are also no longer usable. You definitely cannot make a recommendation for the campsite. We left 1 day earlier than planned

Though not one to camp in anyway, I found it rather enjoyable with hosts unlike any other experienced on my trip. They were understanding and had a good knowledge of the places around and were able to help us out with places to see. The grounds were fun, yet the ideas they had for the place give me so much hope for the future of the place. With amazing views and an incredible mist about it in the morning, this beachside paradise provides a steady amount of conversation amongst its residents whilst still allowing an independence with a large set of utilities available. With an interesting
