I spent a great five days retreat with Jo at her home in beautiful Whangarei. The hikes were stunning scenery and Jo is an experienced forager, so I learned a lot about mushrooms and native species. In our small group Jo’s yoga expertise was tailored to our needs, which made the retreat even more useful. I even took away some new veggie recipes to try again at home. The experience was soothing and relaxing, and great value. Thanks Jo!

I recently attended a 5 night yoga and hiking retreat. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of it and felt it was a valuable reset experience. It was very well organised. I was able to try various types of yoga and meditation and came away feeling that I had learned a lot. The daily hikes showed off the stunning scenery of Whangarei Heads which was a real revelation. The food Jo provided was nutritious and delicious. I left the retreat feeling very refreshed! Thank you Jo!
I had such a wonderful experience at WHY Retreat! The whole retreat is super well organised, since the moment you book until the day you leave. I feel that I did so much and still had time for myself and to reflect, which I found very important. This is a true, genuine place where I could RELAX on Jo's beautiful, cozy and peaceful house. I managed to CALM my mind by leaning different meditation techniques. I nurtured my body with all that DELICIOUS and HEALTHY FOOD. I learnt so much on each YOGA CLASS and for the first time understood the reasons behind some of the postures and breathing exercises. Time spent in nature and doing absolutely STUNNING HIKES in the area was delightful. I connected deeper with my inner self through powerful REIKI SESSIONS. JO is an amazing person, very helpful and with such an INSPIRING life story! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get new get new tools to improve their wellbeing or simply to have a good time away from the busy life. …
We had a great experience. Our original plans to visit Why Retreat were delayed because of Covid but it was worth the wait. Lovely food and atmosphere. Jo was understanding of my yoga 'newbie' status, supporting and encouraging but not pushing. She gave us a range of yoga and meditation experiences over the five days and I'm committed to carrying on with both now. And Whangarei Heads was a real bonus. The walks, the bays, the weather, just lovely.
