Detailed Reviews
Uretiti has improved a lot in the 10 years since I was last there, you can even have a hot shower (I think it was $2 for 3 mins) This is a DOC campsite so it is pretty basic (that's what makes it relaxing though). It has a great vibe around the camp too. Clean (long drop style) toilets and showers available across the campsite, beautiful white sand beach and about 10 mins drive in Waipu for supplies when required.

Uretiti Beach is amazing and caters for the 'clothing optional' as well. Head from the campsite to the beach via one of the many paths. At the beach, facing the sea, turn right and walk about 300-500meters or for 3-5 minutes approx. There you can shed the clothes and enjoy an all-over tan. I personally have found it to be friendly, relaxed and easy going. Yes, there is the occasional 'meerkat' in the sand dunes, but they are best ignored. Overall it's a great place to chill. Great swimming too. I Highly recommend.

This was an amazing place for your camping experience, beautiful beach with easy access to nearby towns. The people at the campsite were awesome and eager to help/offer advice when necessary. The only thing we didn't expect was the nudist beach being so close to the campsite, but overall would def recommend.

We stayed here for a night, it was clean, well layed out, close to the beach and just had a nice feeling about it. The guy at the office was really friendly and helpful also. The bathrooms/showers were super clean and there was laundry facilities, recycling and dump site. Would definitely stay here again.

I love,Uretiti. Down to beach, turn right, walk a few hundred metres and then it's time for the Birthday Suit! All over Vitamin D....what could be better? The odd ' Meerkat ' but they are harmless. A great spot for that all over tan.

This DOC Campsite is available to pre-book, it is well sign posted and located on Bream Bay where you can camp literally a 1 minute walk from the beach. There is a DOC Hut and guard and also a PIN # for security. The campsite has new shower blocks (cold water only) and drinking water.
The campsite is beautiful especially when we visited in summer, such a scenic spot, plenty of space to pitch a tent and there is an air calm about the place where you can while away the summer evenings.
However, be aware Uretiti is a nudist beach, this you would not know if you were visiting the region and it does not mention this on the DOC information but there is plenty of high sand dunes and foliage.

We found this campsite to be really good, good fishing if you have a kayak and great toilet facilities. I did struggle with the loud traffic noise in the morning. There seemed to be a lot of old wrinkly nudist at the beach but if that doesn't bother you then that's all good. The lady that works there is very grumpy and really needs to find a job that dose not involve people. Still we had a good time and enjoyed the swimming.

Whilst the campsite is nice, with clean toilets, sinks and showers I just want to let people know that this campsite does lock at 9pm. Whilst travelling New Zealand I often arrived at campsites at night after dark, however luckily I turned up to this one just in time as if you arrive after 9pm you would have nowhere to go! I really think the DOC leaflet should let you know this, as there are no other options nearby so you would be pretty stuck if you did arrive at night. Also, in addition to the $10 camp fee you have to pay an extra $2 for rubbish so be prepared for that extra cost as well.

We come here on a regular basis and stay at the DOC camp. You can park out the front and walk around the DOC camp on the left hand side. Either that you can drive to the left just as you enter the entrance to the DOC camp. Drive around and there is a large car park. From there it is a shorter walk to the beach. The beach has waves which generally roll nicely in and tend to push you up the beach. Great for boogie boards as you can sometimes get a fifty meter run into the beach. Generally no under toe but watch out for the little ones as there is no surf patrol. Lots of nice sand as well and good for buildings sand castles.
If you like an all over tan head to the right of the DOC camp as it is one of New Zealands best nude beach's. Please do not be offended as there is plenty of space. Lots of space as this beach is massive with over 5km of beach space. There is no shelter so bring an umbrella and some good sun block.
