Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Having visited this wonderful retreat several times, I am happy to be able to write its praises. Such a wonderful place to chill out, surrounded by fantastic views, peace and quiet, in a super house, near to the wonderful hosts Ada and Evan. The friendliness and thoughtfullness from these wonderful hosts, makes our stay very special. The location is superb, and it is so close to the sea, and also to the nearby Town, it makes a perfect place to relax and just enjoy the nature surrounding this retreat. One visit is not enough!

This is our 2nd time staying here and again Ada had made it such a lovely experience. She was so lovely to upgrade us to a bigger and nicer unit with a better view just because she "had already made the beds there". We were so happy to be visiting all the farm animals again...Ada has a story to tell about each of them so be sure to leave ample time for all that! She also introduced us the the Kaiwaka Cheese Shop which sells the most wonderful cheeses. We do a bit of barter trading now...I get her some cheese and she gives me a discount off the rate!

Our three day visit with Ada and Evan was one of the highlights of our visit to New Zealand. They welcomed us like family, and took great effort to make our stay memorable. They took us around the 120 acre property, and the love they both felt for their animals was always evident. Our room was spacious and fully equipped with everything we could possibly need, and the room led to a small deck overlooking the pastures of their idyllic Northland property. We only wish there was a rating above "excellent".

I stayed here on business recently so was travelling on my own. Ada and Evan could not have been more welcoming. They are truly wonderful hosts who seemed to think of every little thing I could possibly need. My accommodation was warm and cosy, and beds incredibly comfortable. Its a pity I had only one night available as I would have loved to explore further. The farm is high on the ridgeline overlooking the sea close to Whangarei Heads in Northland. From your accommodation you look out to green rolling hills surrounded surrounded by lots of native bush. I didn't want to leave! Ill definitely return to explore the native bush tracks and experience the 'character' farm animals that I heard so much about. This is not ritzy modern accommodation it is more 70's style architecture however no effort has been spared to ensure your comfort. Ada & Evan are real Kiwi hosts.

This accommodation has it all, the worlds most hospitable hosts, views to die for, tranquility, comfortable rooms and white sandy beaches a short drive down hill! My wife and I have stayed here several times and just love the place, Evan and Ada always make us feel so welcome, it is like coming home. Down on the farm you will find many friendly animals, most of which have names! all of which will entertain adults and children alike. Whether you are looking for a romantic break or a family get away I would recommend you escape to Arches.
