Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I go rarely on tripadvisor so i want to talk about it that one, it is because it deserve it. No more that 14-15 people, the place is perfect to meet people, talk, exchange and share places to see or to go. A breakfast and Wi-fi, peaceful, a good view on the river and the city. i do not need more.

I stayed at Honey B&B for 4 nights and I really loved it there. Dorothy is such a lovely person who even picked us up on our way from the busstop to the B&B. The price is really good and there's even breakfast included (toast with jam and honey, as well as coffee and tea). In the evenings, everyone was chilling in the living room, watching a movie and talking, like a big family :)
If you ever come to Whangarei, this is the place to stay :)

The rooms, bathrooms and kitchen are nice and tidy. Its a small, very casual hostel with great views of the harbour area. Nothing to complain about really, run very smoothly. The breakfast is not amazing (just toast with jam) but it is definitely better than nothing. Overall a nice place!

The owner here is amazing and very reasonable. The prices are cheap the rooms are comfortable and if the place is not to busy you will likely end up with a room to yourself for the cost of a single bed. Fair warning there is no Wifi offered as the owner believes people should socialize instead.

Arrived here planning to stay just one night then head north, but as soon as I saw this place I paid two nights up front. SO clean and tidy and welcoming. Owners are fantabulous, I had just had a flat tire and a long drive and they pointed out a mechanic and gave me a phone number and address. They have tips for traveling the area with timing and everything which are great. Really nice people stay here as well, so good vibes! The price is ridiculously cheap, free fast and good running wifi and parking (which are both really actually free), includes toast and jam for breakfast and coffee and tea whenever.
Short and pretty walk to Town Basin, and then town center and anything you'd need.
Don't go through Whangarei without staying here! Really really great place.

I stayed at Honey B&B for one night only and I loved it. It small, cozy and has a beautiful view of the whole city. Dorothy is a great host who takes care of everything and even remembers the travellers' names. You'll find heaps of recommendations for local attractions like the waterfalls, glowworm caves or Mt Manaia. I personally loved all those places and am grateful for the travel advice. Would come back anytime <3

It's a lovely spot both bagpackers as well as the owner (and her lovely son) were sooo good wibes! Loved staying there! It's not much but sure is enough - keep it simple :) and has one advantage that other hostels usually don't have - the kitchen is open 24/7 and i just love a good midnight snack 😜 far better than the usual cityhostels and the surroundings sure gives it that little more spirit that it needs to be just perfect :)

It's great that there's free breakfast and it's very cheap a bit further away than advertised but still very close to town center and bus station.
The only minus is that there's only one toilet so if someone's in the shower you'll have to wait. But there's free WiFi nice comfy beds and a very cozy atmosphere. All in all a small, nice and friendly hostel that I could see myself visiting again.

"All 4 rooms are beside each other - this is just a little backpackers. Room 1 is closest to the kitchen/toilet. You can sit outside all rooms and have a nice view of the river/marina."
