Poor amenities. Our one bedroom unit was crammed with 4 beds and had 1 tattered armchair and 4 very dirty dining room chairs. The carpet was dirty. We asked for a room with a disability shower and that was good, spacious with very hot water. Take your own soaps etc as none are provided. Most of the advertised extras were not in our room. We had 4 nights in Whangarei but only stayed here 1 night before moving to a clean place for a cheaper price. Very disappointed in the place. Very nice helpful managers and clean white sheets and towels but it didn't make up for the rest.
It was great to book into a pet friendly motel as our dog travels with us. We were made to feel welcome and were given a ground floor room which made 'going walkies' easier in the morning and evenings. The rooms are about ready for an upgrade but weigh that up against, friendly service, great price and close to town, we could not have done better.
This motel is very clean and central. The proprietor is extremely obliging and pleasant. I took a star off for the hard bed and very small yet adequate bathroom. For a self catering holiday the room is well equipped. I would use this motel again.
We called into the ISite on the way into Whangarei and they booked us into this motel. It was the right price, the room was spacious and had all the amenities that we required. The room was clean, the bed reasonably comfortable and good strong shower. It got a little noisy early in the morning with traffic but didn’t impact our sleep. The owner was friendly and helpful. Good budget motel and would stay here again
The location of the motel is good, but the road is very busy and noisy. We had family units which were basic and in need of a major update. The beds were quite hard and the covers had stains on them which is not a good look. Towels were small and worn, there was no hairdryer in the room. There was a lot of dust and dirt in our room and lots of stains on the carpet. If you are after a real budget motel it’s ok.
Well situated units refurbished to a modern standard. All necessities were present, good shower. Nice to have a good tv with plenty of channels. Stains on the double bed duvet wasn’t a great look, it should have been an easy and cheap fix. Being upstairs was a bit of a pain with two new hips and a crook back.
This place was fantastic for myself my 4 and a half month old and fiancé great location and veery tidy. Great owners who were always very happy to see and help you. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again myself!
Burgundy Rose Motel, State Highway 1, Whangarei We stayed two nights recently in this motel which is located on SH1 in Kensington, Whangarei. The motel is ideally situated for travel into the city centre or if you are travelling north, and even though it’s on SH1 we weren’t bothered by any road noise. Our unit was a studio unit, quite spacious with all amenities and very reasonably priced. I can recommend Burgundy Rose Motel if you are looking for overnight accommodation in Whangarei. Spa was filthy, staff blamed guests, I blame them, bedding had stains, shower soap was empty, owners dog was very annoying. I wont be going back ever. For approximately $100 per night it was reasonable if u prefer sub standard motel staying
Stayed here for a few days in Winter. Place could do with more heating as there was only 1 heater for the whole unit. Chairs in dinning suite where a bit wobbly and needed a good clean as badly stained. Bit on the tired side but still not a bad place to stay.
