Well, due to the price of staying at Motel Six, I expect Spartan accommodations, no frills. What I do expect is a clean floor and not the smell of cigarette smoke and WiFi that is usable for business. The floor was rather dirty and walking bare footed (not recommended in any hotel) made the bottom of my feet very dirty. I took one of the white hand towels, made it wet and cleaned a portion of the floor, not a pretty sight. The towel was very soiled I am afraid to say. My first few hours in the room resulted in very teary and scratchy eyes. I am not sure if was from the smoke or the cleaning agents they used to sanitize the room. The next issue was the WiFi connection or should I say the speed. It was very slow taking many minutes to access a browser page, down load documents or photos, forget about viewing videos from YouTube or Netflix. I have an app that tells me the location of WiFi transmitters and the speed of down loads, uploads and ping times and they were terrible. I got download speed of 0.56 Mbps, upload speed or 0.58 Mbps and ping time of 53.28 ms. I questioned the front desk if there was something wrong with their internet service due to this and they said no, this is what Motel Six has ordered through their ISP. I told them that is not good for business. I was supposed to stay there for 4 nights but left after the second night and told them why, I could not do business on my computer with such slow Mbps. It took 2 hours to do some work that should have only taken about half an hour to do. Would I book with Motels Six again? Yes, most likely providing the Internet speed is up where it belongs, I definitely would check the speed before checking in. Regarding the floor, I can live with a dirty floor and just have to remember to bring cleaning supplies and do the floor myself. They lost $209.04 of business because of this and I had to pay and additional $50.00 per night for accommodations elsewhere.…
What's worse is they don't understand English when you mention identity theft and they don't want to know. I stayed on the 23rd of December by the 28th December they had obtained a credit card. Somebody who works there is a theft. BE WARNED , its been a costly and time consuming and on going expense .
This has to be one of the worst motels I've stayed in. We were put here on a work trip and couldn't believe how bad it was. The beds were so uncomfortable I could barely sleep. The walls were so thin I could hear people talking in the next room at 5am and showering all hours of the night. It was so dirty in my colleagues room - there appeared to be vomit on the curtains, old food all around the place, stains on the carpet. My toilet wouldn't flush properly and TV had two long lines of dead pixels down the middle. The only saving graces were the good quality wifi and the location.
While the location was convenient and the rooms adequate, it was very stuffy and hot since there were no air conditioning especially during this hot summer. What irks us was that check outs were supposed to be at 10am but was hastened out by 9.30am which was really discourteous.
What a horrid dump!!!!! You couldn't pay me to stay again....Downstairs unit.... First thing that greets me is a cigarette butt on the doorstep...Out the sliding door theres another one.... The sheets look used and had stains... Apparently people use oils and they said they can't get stains off. (Never seen that before!)...you felt dirty sleeping in them. It smelt and felt damp in there..not to mention the damp and mould on the lounge ceiling. Uncleaned tv cabinet. The kitchen looked clean apart from a stained teatowel, dirty foil under element and dirty knobs on the oven. I couldn't wait to get out of there!
I admit I booked this hotel because of the reasonable price and the 4 star average on here. After staying there I think most of the ver positive reviews must have been based on the apartments rather than the studios. Good points. Parking in front of the studio. Very clean. Good kitchenette. Good supply of hot water for the shower. Not too far to walk to the Basin. Bad points No soundproofing. People in the next studio could be heard speaking at normal volume It is literally right next to a very large primary school...that is what the view from the studio's windows is of No security...the windows have to be secured shut which makes it very hot. No aircon
Wow, we have stayed twice now and each time the facility is awesome,so clean and tidy, everything sparkles showers, sinks, fridge is clean so are the drawers that the utensils are in, bonus. All is fresh and welcoming. We would defineatly come back again. Granny😀
Stayed in a studio with a small kitchenette. It was spotless & peaceful setting. I was amazed at the cleanliness, the towels thick and dry nicely. I think run by a family and they were very friendly. Gave me milk for my coffee. It centrally located next to McDonalds off main road but for my 2 nights stay perfect.
I asked at the information centre in Whangarei for a motel close to town centre at a reasonable price and they suggested Motel 6. It was a last minute decision to stay in Whangarei before heading next day to the Bay of Islands after long trip. Value for money, older motel, definately not flash on the outside but one of the cleanest I have been in. Close to food outlets and ate at a little Indian restaurant down the road we recommend. Full kitchen, free wifi and plenty of room in the unit( which you often find in older motels). We could hear some noise from unit above but otherwise stay was fine. Friendly staff on reception. Would use again, especially for budget travel.
The room had everything you needed, was very clean and comfortable, only stayed one night, but would definitely return. My booking was for two rooms as travelled with another couple, who were also very happy with motel.
