This is an incredible place to stay. Peter and Bobby are the nicest hosts and the place is beautiful. The service is incredibly personal and the food is excellent. From the point of landing in Nelson we were met by Peter and the trip went perfect from there.

We stayed at Eden House just after Christmas. It was the first 'homestay' of our trip and we were not sure what to expect but Carole and Richard made us so welcome. The setting on the hill was so beautiful and peaceful and yet so close to some stunning bays. With only one full day for seeing the area, Richard's map and itinerary proved invaluable. We opted to have dinner the second night and Carole produced a sumptuous meal; breakfasts were equally delicious. This was one of the best stops on our three week tour and we wished we could have stayed longer.

Hi both, What a lovely review, thank you so much for your time and effort in giving us the feedback. We hope you had a comfortable and safe journey back to Peterborough? Hope you have not been affected by the storms in UK? We have given our daughter your contact details so she may get in touch with you regarding living in Cambridge. There was an article in the UK Express about the high commuting fares between London and Cambridge so they may well reconsider their proposal to live in London! Meanwhile, our weather has gone from strength to strength with temperatures actually reaching the 30s, along with the pool temperature. Gorgeous and we've even had a regular daily dip ourselves, pretending we were on holiday. We hope you have a wonderful 2014, and don't forget the evenings will be drawing out for you and spring will soon be on its way... Warmest wishes from Eden House

We booked three nights on our trip North, we enjoyed it so much we stopped for three more nights en route back to Auckland ! The reception, hosts, quality, value for money, meals, pool and spotless comfortable rooms made it a must to hurry back to. After four weeks in NZ it has yet to be beaten. Richard and Carole made us feel like we were stopping with friends and made us feel so at home. It is a " must stay" for anyone looking for accommodation in the North. Beaches nearby to die for - nobody on them !

Hi both, It's so kind of you to do such a lovely review. It was a delight having you here in Eden. A little cooler this week but the pool is still warm. (Just as well as I've got to jump in to change one of the steps!) Hope you had a good journey home? At least you will shortly be entering spring, we often think of all those daffodils and then bluebells that we miss as we don't have such a profusion of them here! You will recall the celebration on your first night? Well we are off later this year to Brisbane to collect the award. Take care, thank you again, and maybe we'll meet up again sometime..?

This beautiful bed and breakfast is off the beaten path and that is exactly what I was seeking. Although just 30 minutes on good road from Whangarei, you are in splendid isolation. From my spacious bedroom, I looked down a forested valley. The view may remind some guests of a "treetops" experience that is available at an African game reserve for many times the cost. It is absolutely quiet. At night, I could see the stars even when reclined on my bed. Oh yes, although Eden House is a bed and breakfast, you must have dinner with the hosts, Carole and Richard. They are great company. The food is delicious and reflects many different cuisines that they experienced during their travels around the world. The next day, I woke up early and saw a solar eclipse from atop Mt. Manaia. But I am not sure whether it was something of an anticlimax compared with my stay at The Eden House!

What a lovely review. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to give such nice feedback about your stay with us. Also pleased that the weather was kind and you managed to see the solar eclipse. Mount Manaia is a great location and you can see why it's called the mystic mountain. We are into the final two weeks of rehearsals for the show and it is going well. Today we're having a break and sorting out the garden ready for the forthcoming season. The bush trail needs some repairs and we are planting in the palm grove. So pleased you had a safe and good journey back to Auckland. And look forward to catching up with our shared tales in the future. Warmest wishes from Eden House.

Where do I start..Richard and Carole our hosts were just brilliant, made us feel so welcome. Eden House is like a hideaway with breathtaking views over the bush towards the Pacific. Approximately 20 minutes drive from the lights of Whangarei,if you can get down to Smugglers Beach and Ocean Beach they are just amazing. Superb breakfast with the hosts followed by a 'must do'....the bush walk at the end of the garden, but look out for the strategically placed creepy crawlies. We only stayed for one night but Richard and Carole said that they host murder mystery weekends which in that location sound amazing. Summing up if you want an amazing place to stay, with lovely hosts, and at a really good price,in an amazing location..Eden House is the place. If anyone is going out for the Rugby World Cup 2011,this would be an ideal base to stay, and if the rugby has finished you can always take a dip in the pool and take in the awesome views. Will definitely go back there again..thankyou Richard and Carole :)

Faultless! A stunning room, beautiful remote location, delightful hosts, wonderful hospitality, brilliant breakfasts. Have evening meal(s) with Carole and Richard and enjoy their delicious cooking. Spent four nights here and could not have wished for better. Go there but spend some time soaking up the atmosphere and kindness of your hosts.

We stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The accommodation is beautiful, spacious, clean, well furnished in a stylish and luxurious elegance. It is located in a truly idyllic spot, close to stunning beaches and the city of Whangarei. The views from our bedroom were spectacular. We could see hills, islands and sea. The swimming pool was warm. The food was delicious.
Richard and Carole anticipated our every need and were good company but unobtrusive if we wanted to be alone. They are clearly very experienced in providing the highest quality of hospitality.
One very interesting feature which we thoroughly enjoyed was their bush walk. It took us 20 minutes to walk the circular path through native bush in the grounds of Eden House. We also enjoyed watching the local birds, particularly morepork (small owls) which visited regularly. It felt like being in luxurious accommodation in the midst of untouched nature.
We would strongly recommend Eden House to anyone thinking of spending time in the Whangarei area.

This is a late review as we'd promised to do so but then forgot after we came overseas! Sorry guys. But I have to say this was our favourite B&B. The hosts were fantastic and the location was a dream. So quiet and tranquil with stunning views.
And try Carole's meals! Beautiful breakfasts and loved the variety.
There are lots of beaches and so much to do. The local area is a bit of a hidden gem as it's not highly promoted tourist wise. I mean, the middle of summer and the beaches were almost deserted!

We stayed for three nights at Eden House in July 2014. The hosts, Richard and Carole, were fantastic. They were friendly and incredibly helpful in planning how to use our time in Whangarei and elsewhere in New Zealand. And the breakfasts were unbelievable! The house is gorgeous with fantastic views, and our room had a great view of the sunrise over the ocean each morning. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to New Zealand! Couldn't have picked a better place to stay.

Hi there, Thank you so much for taking the time to give us a review. And wow! What a good one it is! It really is a buzz for us to get such feedback so it's really appreciated. We hope your weather remained kind and not too cold for the rest of your trip in NZ, even if it was our winter. No doubt Winnipeg is now cooling down as you approach your autumn. We are looking forward to the summer as we've had so much rain this winter - the wettest July on record. We've been out in the garden pushing back the bush. You would see a big change now. It would be lovely to meet you both again. But meanwhile, many thanks and warm fuzzies to you from us both.

This was our first night in a Bed and Breakfast on this visit to North Island. It was so good that a lot of other Bed and Breakfasts had a lot to live up to!
Richard and Carole were very attentive. They couldn't do enough for you but without overpowering you, their local knowledge was invaluable, providing maps and places to visit.
The breakfasts were unique, visibly stunning and filling! They really set you up for the day.
While there we left a shirt in the wardrobe and Richard very kindly packaged this up and sent it on to our new hotel.
We enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give a review. And what a lovely one it is! It's super to hear back from our guests. So pleased you got your shirt back ok. Hope you had a good journey back to Cornwall. The weather here has continued to be gorgeous and we're having a real Indian summer! It so nice to be able to sit outside in the warm and enjoy the views this late in Autumn. At least you will be heading into your summer and what a scenic place you have to spend it in. Have a good Easter and I hope you'll think of the good times and all the friends you made in New Zealand. Warmest wishes from us both..
