Thanks to our lovely hosts for a very comfortable overnight stay. They have created a delightful accommodation for their guests, and we will return to Kensington motel again. Our room was spotless with heaps of space, warm and cozy with the heat pump and the location to the Quarry gardens and the town basin is perfect. Walking distance to delicious restaurants and cafes, a must stay in Whangarei, fantastic value!

I had both an early morning & late afternoon appointment, so we stayed the night before & following night as well. Very nice greeting by Sandra who showed us to our unit & explained all we needed to know. We had a one bedroom unit, which gave more space & worked well for us. The Motel is close to the Kensington Hospital on the old Kamo Road & should suit anybody visiting there. We also noticed little if any traffic noise from the road. Sandra & Paul looked after us very well indeed & we would gladly stay again thanks.

This motel is conveniently located very close to Kensington Hospital (walking distance) as well as good restaurants and two supermarkets. Spotlessly clean with all facilities, including kitchenette, small fridge, wifi and comfortable armchairs. An older-style building but it has everything you could want.

Two couples stayed in the two bedroom unit. Chosen for the lounge as meeting long lost relatives. A real home from home. Spotlessly clean and tidy. Full kitchen facilities with fridge/freezer, though I suggest you bring your own tea and coffee if you go through a lot. Cups and plates cater for minimum of five people. Comfortable beds, modern shower and hand basin area. Spacious lounge with extra bed.
Location ideal with several eating places around the corner and supermarkets within walking distance.
Motel was full which says something. Sandra is a cheerful and helpful host and we would definitely stay here again.

This was our first stay with this motel. We were very impressed. We were warmly welcomed after a horrendous drive up through a severe rainstorm. The hosts were very helpful. We stayed in a two bedroom unit and it was very spacious. The room was a wee bit dated but the hosts have recently installed many things such as new curtains, heatpumps etc. There was a well equipped kitchen, Sky TV, and a designated carpark for your unit. There was an outdoor pool which was splendid. Overall we loved our stay and we will return for sure.

I am so glad that we stayed at the Kensington Motel. Heather and Gordon could not have been more helpful, even though I had mixed up our booking dates and our situation was changing by the hour. Due to a family bereavement, we needed urgent accommodation for several adults and a baby who were all travelling to Whangarei from both ends of the compass. Heather and Gordon worked hard around us and for us, and provided the most incredible support through a very difficult time. Nothing was a bother and I have never had a better experience. Lovely warm rooms, comfortable beds and great showers meant that we were able to rest and restore ourselves. Our baby slept through the night while we were staying (and that is not what she normally does!). Food places were convenient and very good. I highly recommend the Kensington as a great location, has everything you need, and Heather and Gordon really go the extra mile to take care of their guests.

Wonderful warm friendly welcome from Gordon and Heather – very helpful with their local knowledge. Exceptionally clean and tidy one-bedroomunit, very spacious, comfortable and cosy. Quiet and relaxing even though near a Tavern – no noise interference from there. Warm rooms much appreciated – as heat pumps turned on. Loved the framed verse on the walls with a definition in 3 languages – English, Maori and Scottish. The fully-equipped kitchenette had everything needed, however with the many convenient delicious restaurants nearby we only used the tea / coffee making facilities on our one-night stay. Great location – not far from Town Basin and Whangarei Falls. Highly recommend the Kensington Motel for any travellers.

The room was exceptionally clean, spacious & nicely dark at night. Heat pump/air con in room. Location is excellent just a 5 minute drive to the city centre but you don’t have to drive as there are quite a few restaurants/takeaway places just a few metres away. Bit of street noise but not too bad.

This place is beautifully clean, amazing shower, comfortable bed. I wasn't disturbed by noise. There are light blocking curtains across the front of the studio, but light did come through the blind at the back. When i stayed it was really quiet i rented a room that had fridge, microwave, ironing board and iron.
I would stay here again. Good value, very clean, felt safe.

The entrance sign is a little obscured on Kamo Road, but is easy to find from the Kensington intersection. Turn on the road with the Kensington Tavern to access the property from the rear.
