I am so glad that we stayed at the Kensington Motel. Heather and Gordon could not have been more helpful, even though I had mixed up our booking dates and our situation was changing by the hour. Due to a family bereavement, we needed urgent accommodation for several adults and a baby who were all travelling to Whangarei from both ends of the compass. Heather and Gordon worked hard around us and for us, and provided the most incredible support through a very difficult time. Nothing was a bother and I have never had a better experience. Lovely warm rooms, comfortable beds and great showers meant that we were able to rest and restore ourselves. Our baby slept through the night while we were staying (and that is not what she normally does!). Food places were convenient and very good. I highly recommend the Kensington as a great location, has everything you need, and Heather and Gordon really go the extra mile to take care of their guests. …
Thanks to our lovely hosts for a very comfortable overnight stay. They have created a delightful accommodation for their guests, and we will return to Kensington motel again. Our room was spotless with heaps of space, warm and cozy with the heat pump and the location to the Quarry gardens and the town basin is perfect. Walking distance to delicious restaurants and cafes, a must stay in Whangarei, fantastic value!
I stayed 2 nights here with my 2 adult children. Arrived at 3am and Heather was there to open up and she had also warmed the room for us. The room was just what we needed. Comfortable and welcoming. The hosts are awesome to deal with and would stay here again.
What a fantastic place to stay and Gordon and Heather were so friendly and helpful with our booking and overnight stay. The room was well presented and clean, with some added touches as well. The service was outstanding and I highly recommend it if you need a place to stay.
Another fantastic stay at Kensington Motel. Clean and tidy as always. Kind, friendly and helpful hosts. Great service, especially the lovely laundry service. I was blown away to find laundry folded in basket on chair when we returned to our unit. Great advice on the local cuisine in the area. Close to a good variety of takeaways, a restaurant, dairy, Z petrol station and other handy shops. All a hop, skip and jump away. The only hiccup was, we forgot our togs. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality Heather and Gordon, for going the extra mile to make us feel welcome and comfortable, And going above and beyond which is a very rare find in hospitality these days. Highly recommend and will definitely be back when up in Whangarei again. Thank You From Kylie Mills, your returnee in unit 1 😊…
My family of 4 enjoyed our stay. The room is comfortable and there's a lot of space for enjoyment. The kids loved the pool, the bbq area is a great place to chill. I highly recommend this Motel to anyone. Thanks to the owners Gordon and Heather for an amazing experience. A massive plus! gym and eateries within walking distance. Fantastic location!
The hosts are steadily upgrading the rooms - but they were spotless. Easy access to rooms, all ground level. We had a great time - pool is small but perfectly adequate & BBQ area is very nice. Very comfortable rooms. Booked again already!
What a little find! Super location, well appointed good sized rooms, we stayed in Unit 1, with seperate bedroom with very comfy queen bed, and single bed in the living room. Very clean and Well equipped throughout, great water pressure and wifi. Thank you Heather and Gordon for a lovely stay, we will be back
Utterly disappointed!!!! The owner grumpily told my 8 year old daughter at 8pm, when still daylight to stop riding her newly gifted skateboard outside our room!!!! Who gets upset at the sound of happiness? The sun was still out! RUDE We didn't complain when the shower blocked with so much water it was a health hazard! Or the rooms being hot and stuffy with no airflow. If you have a young family, this motel IS NOT SUITABLE. You should state on your website, No kids allowed!!!! No sounds of children's enjoyment allowed!!! However, late night partying, loud music & fights are most welcome after 10pm.
Two couples stayed in the two bedroom unit. Chosen for the lounge as meeting long lost relatives. A real home from home. Spotlessly clean and tidy. Full kitchen facilities with fridge/freezer, though I suggest you bring your own tea and coffee if you go through a lot. Cups and plates cater for minimum of five people. Comfortable beds, modern shower and hand basin area. Spacious lounge with extra bed. Location ideal with several eating places around the corner and supermarkets within walking distance. Motel was full which says something. Sandra is a cheerful and helpful host and we would definitely stay here again.
