Roomy, comfortable, plenty of facilities, well located on a main street, this is worth checking out. A bit of road noise overnight. Price probably at the high end for the quality provided. Could do with some modernisation soon. Helpful staff.
In my opinion New Zealand doesn't have great motels or hotels, because of lack of interest and service. This place is different. Its the first place we stayed in that was decent and the owner/manager was really genuinely nice and helpful. Keep up the good work and we hope to see you in the near future again. The motel itself is very central or at least central enough to either walk to where you want to be or take a short drive.
Stayed here for one night to break the journey back from Ahipara to Auckland. The motel is situated about a five minute drive from the centre of Whangarei and is easy to find. The rooms are on ground and first floor and there is parking for one car per room. We had a two bedroom upstairs room which had a large lounge with flat screen TV with plenty of Channels to choose from, a separate kitchen with all you would need to cater for yourself, although we didn’t use this, apart from boiling a kettle to make coffee (provided). The queen bed we used was very comfortable and the bathroom had a strong shower over a small tub. There are one or two restaurants within walking distance should you not want to cook. The lack of air conditioning did not seem to be a problem with plenty of ventilation from open windows if required, and the location, even though on quite a busy road, was not at all noisy.…
We had two rooms. Both were very clean and we were given new towels each day. Only complaint is that there is no air conditioning conditioning but there was a nice fan in each room. I’d stay here again without hesitation
Comfortable and very clean rooms; beds are excellent. Satff very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Different room options available: fully fitted kitchens or kitchenette. Two supermarkets are across the road; drive to CBD only a few minutes. Forest, mountain and river walks are nearby and a real treasure trove of singing birds and native trees. A real pleasure to stay here. Laundrette about 300 metres away. Numerous restaurants nearby. Great choice!
I have stayed in a number of hotels in Whangarei. This is by far the best venue I have stayed in. We were In Whangarei for a Hikoi to the far north with our father whom is terminally ill. The owner greeted us with a warm welcome. Went out of his way to set up and clean the BBQ for our family. Facilities were very clean and good access for my father whom was in a wheelchair. *****Would highly recommend ********
Had not booked ahead and most hotels were booked out. Had driven past it and didn’t look flash...but found out they are renovating the roof and outside...hence why the scaffolding around it. Very basic rooms BUT very clean, comfortable and friendly people. Walking distance to pub in Kensington.
We stayed here over New Years for 2 nights and we were hoping for a quiet couple of nights - despite it being NYE we got the restful nights we were looking for. Dave was pleasant and helpful at check in and check out. The room was very clean and the room was serviced as we were there more than 1 night. There was also the added bonus of sky tv which worked with no issues. You can walk into Whangarei in about 20 mins and the nearest food and supermarkets are about 5 mins walk. Highly recommend!
Check-in was friendly and efficient. The room was spacious and very comfortable for 2. This is a classic style motel but well maintained and immaculately clean. The room had a well equipped kitchen. Free unlimited wifi is available. Two large supermarkets are within 200 metres walking distance. If you like a walk only 10-15 to downtown. The parking is free. The Stonehaven offers good value for money. Recommended.
We arrived on a Tuesday evening. The ?owner/manager on reception was friendly, welcoming and informative. Our room was much bigger than we had assumed it would be and it was really clean. Crisp linen on the bed and a great kitchenette. We opted to buy dinner at the Chinese place down the road opposite the supermarkets. It was fresh and delicious, $10.50 for a container and you fill it with whatever you want from the buffet. The Stonehaven parking is a bit tight. It is a really quiet, easy to find location and the beds are comfortable. It is good value for money and we would stay again. We are 2 x adults and 1 x child.
