2 stars. 1 for location 1 for breakfast included and carpark at rear. Poor not boutique accommodation. They need to up their game for $190 night triple room. Definitely not boutique. codwebs, dirty bedcoverings, lights not working, heating thermostats not working ie hot only on heaters, poor water temp in shower and terrible pressure. Poor check in. Told can't check in until 3pm. arrived at 3pm and reception closed 'go to the bar' Breakfast 'go to the bar ' we sat and waited ...as 'joyce' walked by us 3 times without a goodmorning and only then we realised it's not table service ' go to the bar'. until they drop their prices or up their game.. stay somewhere else. it's not boutique.

We were very happy with our stay here, the staff were friendly and helpful and the room we had was very comfortable - we stayed in the Rutland suite. We would be happy to stay here again. Great location in the centre of town.

It was a okay hotel, nice stay, the only thing was that we were told it would be 170$ but upon arrival they told us they were adding and extra 25$ to that, and then charged us 200$. The communication was very poor. They did not notify us about the cost change until we had already arrived at hotel, even when they had plenty of opportunity to call us about it earlier.

We booked a night here when travelling around the north island. It has a pub underneath but you couldn’t hear pub noise in the room. The room was great, really big with a double and single bed, but still warm in the middle of winter. Beds were comfy. The bathroom was wheelchair suitable (although all the rooms were upstairs). It was also well equipped with coffee and tea making facilities and a bar fridge, as well as a TV and free wifi. We thought the room rates were very reasonable, with a continental breakfast included. We ate dinner in the pub restaurant, which was good pub food and did beer tastings - also the sort of place where single travellers would be able to eat without feeling conspicuous. The pub itself specialises in craft beers, with beer tastings available. It has a car park for guests, and a little lounge room upstairs. The stairs are quite steep, both internal stairs and external stairs down into the car park. Staff were lovely, friendly and chatty. We will definitely stay there again!

Would thoroughly recommend staying here when you are in Whanganui. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and had an updated old world charm. There is WiFi, free parking and a very good continental breakfast in the morning. Easy walking to many restaurants and the town centre. Will definitely stay again.
