Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The motel is central to the town centre, the room and ensuite were well sized and comfortable. Our room also had and extra area with kitchenette and table, and small lounge also with a single bed. Very comfortable accommodation and the hosts are very pleasant and helpful. Definitely recommend.

Fabulous place to stay - clean, comfortable, quiet walking distance to town. Fabulous hosts who went out of their way to help with anything we needed. Highly recommend this location for bikers or anyone passing through Whanganui - thanks for the wonderful stay!

Excellent motel. The owners made our stay so easy and were extremely supportive given one of our group was injured during our bike ride down to Whanganui.
The offer to store our bikes in their garage for the night to ensure their safety was much appreciated as was the drop off into town for dinner.

The rooms are spotlessly clean, spacious and well appointed. The beds are extremely comfortable.

Overall, I'd recommend Cooks Gardens to stay and would definitely do so again.

Although located in an industrial part of town, this motel is only a walk or short drive to the shops, and the managers have put a lot of thought into the rooms, and are friendly and helpful. Room was clean, beds comfy and we had everything we needed. Was a nice stop on our driving holiday.

We can only echo previous reviewers. Dont bother looking elsewhere, this motel is centrally located, has refurbished accommodation and the most helpful friendly owners you will encounter. It is well priced and close to the racetrack and sports ground. We wouldnt hesitate to stay again next time we are in Wanganui..

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend in Wanganui and Sue and Murray’s welcoming hospitality made our stay even more memorable! Thank you!!
Your genuine kindness, especially making all guests feel special is the ideal complement to your very clean, comfortable units.
We wouldn’t stay anywhere else in WAG if you are still at Cooks Gardens! Amazing hosts and excellent accommodation.

We got a very warm welcome & great trips of places to dine BUT even though I asked when making the booking if it was quiet I was assured it was & told traffic stopped at 5pm but they omitted to say it started again at 6.30 in the morning. It was on the corner of the property so boarded on two roads. The room was also very dark as a corner room & only a few windows at the end of a large lounge dining kitchen area. The beds were the final in a disappointing choice of motels. They should have been replaced years ago.

Great hotel in Wanganui. Comfortable, modern, clean and warm and really friendly owners and staff that were very attentive. Had a 2 brm apartment and it was very spacious, and had an extra bed in the lounge if required. On quite a noisy road, but very close to the racecourse and town. My only gripe would be the low easy to unlock from the inside front door as I was concerned my 3 year old might let himself out - a higher lock would have been handy for peace of mind! Would definitely stay again.

Best Motel we’ve ever stayed at!!! Three of us stayed here, had a 2-room corner unit which was great, spacious, nicely refurbished. 2 TVs, unexpectedly a bath, plenty of places for luggage & everything we had, with room to spare. Bonus was a new destination charger, we were the first to use it - and at no charge 😄
Thanks Sue & Murray, we’ll stay again, & recommend you to everyone we can!
