We had a really nice night here! The room was comfortable, clean and cozy. The hot tub was unreal - sitting under the stars listening to the ocean waves crashing!! Delicious breakfast in the morning and such lovely hosts. Will definitely be staying here again when we come back.

We arrived here straight from the airport in time to enjoy the amazing sunset from the beach across the road, taking advantage of the paddle board that was available for us to use (there is a kayak too). Falling asleep to the sound of the waves gently crashing on the beach guaranteed a perfect night's sleep.
The breakfast was, without doubt, the best ever I have had at a B&B.
The location and hospitality of the hosts is what made this B&B a wonderful place to stay. Do not hesitate to book this place - it is such good value for money and far superior to many of the other places that we looked into booking in the area. I am hopeful that we will return for a longer stay.

Great Location easy drive from Auckland airport overlooking a lovely beach. Very friendly hosts who gave us good advice on places to visit. Breakfasts were wonderful with plenty of choice and our room was comfortable and provided us with all we needed.

This was a pretty good bed and breakfast - especially compared to the few other options in the area - but left us feeling kind of neutral/negative. We were expecting a bit more attention to detail, like shampoo, hairdryer, etc in the bathroom and a place to unpack (no drawers or closet). The first night we were also pretty freaked out by both the living and dead spiders and insects everywhere (did not use the cabinet under the bathroom sink because of the cobwebs and a few dead insects) - almost wanted to ask for a vacuum. But after one night it didn‘t bother us. The spa/hottub was great, the garden absolutely beautiful, and breakfasts were really nice with great coffee and a little bit of everything (eggs, muesli, yoghurt, jam, honey, salmon, meats, cheese, tomato, etc.). But it‘s not really a place if you are looking to hang out/relax/read a book all day (which is what we wanted) - better just for sleeping and a quick dip in the spa/hottub before bed.

Location: Is great. was less than 3 hour drive from Auckland airport which worked well for us as we had landed in the country the same afternoon. The B&B is right in front of the beach and it has a porch where one could sit and enjoy the scenery or go for a walk.

Room: and the bathroom were clean and spacious. The room had a private entrance and one could park the car right in front of it, so logistically it was very helpful..

Hosts: We really enjoyed staying at this B&B, Peter and Janet were soo friendly and gave us great advise on where to go and what to see. Peter also makes some awesome scrambled eggs. :)

Locality: The nearest town was Thames, which is a mins drive from the place. There are some decent restaurants in the area so one would always be entertained.

Would definitely go back here if looking for some quiet time with stunning surroundings.

My wife and I were completely delighted by the experience we had at the Pohutukawa Coast Bed and Breakfast. Our room there was large, clean and comfortable, but the hosts are what makes this place extra special. Janet and Peter are warm, friendly people who show great interest in getting to know their guests. They provided tons of advice regarding things to see and do in the area, offered us the use of their paddleboard and double sea kayak, and they even loaned us a shovel to take to Hot Water Beach on the Coromandel to try and dig our own hot water pool there. On both evenings of our stay we were invited to join them and a couple of their personal friends in their home for wine and tasty New Zealand treats. On the morning of our departure Peter graciously cooked a full breakfast extra early so we could get away in time for a scheduled tour later that morning.

The B&B is situated right across the street from the bay known as the Firth of Thames, and daily walks and drives along the shoreline were magical. We ate Peter's wonderful cooked breakfast on the open front porch where we could enjoy the early morning view out over the water. It was all SO good; If we can manage another trip to New Zealand we will make every effort to stay here again.

This B&B is situated on the main road at Thornton's Bay and with a great view across the water. The Hosts (Janet & Peter) were fabulous. We arrived quite late at 8.30pm and hadn't stopped anywhere for an evening meal. As we were on our way out to go and find something to eat, Janet & Peter very kindly offered us some food (chicken, salad and a cheese platter) which was very much appreciated.
Breakfast the next day was fairly simply, cereal, fruit salad and Yoghurt with some nice grain bread (no cooked breakfast offered). It was nice to sit out on the balcony and look across the water.
We would recommend this B&B as a good overnight stop.

We were really enjoy our overnight stay here, very comfy bedroom, luxury bathroom with hot tub, really delicious breakfast, very quiet at night, nice waterview in front of the B n B, not too far from Thames township, and very welcoming and helpful host Peter and Janet. The Pohukutawa Coast BnB was an extremely low key relaxing BnB. Our room and bathroom were totally private, and our hosts were friendly but not intrusive. A very clean and comfortable place to stay, with great bay views. They provided a great breakfast and great weather! The BnB is across the road from the beautiful beach. For meals and groceries, the town of Thames is a 5 minute drive away.
