Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The rooms at the Rolleston were large and included a good size kitchenette and very large bathroom. They were immaculately clean. There is a great outdoor area with a pool, bbq and outdoor seating. The managers were very friendly and helpful - they even offered us free fejoas.

Thank you so much to the amazing hosts for looking after us . After a very unexpected 2.5 hour drive to hospital and a long afternoon and evening in the ED, we were too tired to navigate the roads home again with recent storm slips .. called at 9.40pm with fingers crossed someone would answer , to be greeted by a kind voice willing to have a key waiting, light on and a beautiful clean well presented room waiting for us. We do appreciate this so much. Well appointed , super clean , comfortable stay.

It is okay, it has some good points and some deficiencies. First, there is no air conditioning and in mid summer when it is 26+ degrees outside, a fan doesn't cut it. It is way too hot. The motel does have a swimming pool (which not many do), and the rooms are quite spacious (separate bathroom and kitchen area), and we had an outside area that was semi-private, which got plenty of sun. The rooms were very clean, but everything was in need of attention - the cupboard doors, the windows didn't shut without a lot of pushing. No Sky Tv but there is Netflix or Apple TV if you log in. It isn't bad, but it was expensive and on our holiday in other popular holiday areas we paid less for what I regard as better value rooms. We also got disturbed by a rat in the walls or running across the roof at 6 am one morning (there are rubbish bins nearby in the motel next door). Overall, not bad but not good value for the room rate (and note the motel has a no-refund cancellation policy) - I wouldn't stay there again.

Hands down one of the best motels I've ever stayed in. Great modern clean room. A great walk in shower. Friendly service and quiet location. Large tv and robes and slippers provided. I highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

On Tuesday 26th April the receptionist made our trip better my storing our bikes in a safe place while we explored by car. They also let us check in early, book extra nights and was generally fabulous.

We enjoyed our stay, was the next door water pipe noise that lowered my rating, could hear every time they used kitchen water. Room was comfortable, room to move around and decent size table to sit at. Pool and spa were great, little bit chilly but that is the time of year.

We stayed for 3 nights. While dated, it was very clean. I knocked it down only because we had to ask for milk when we arrived and our room wasn't serviced after the 1st night (no clean towels). The tea & coffee wasn't replenished either. But overall we would stay again.

We've stated several times now, and have stayed in different rooms each time. The rooms are always very clean, quiet, modern and spacious. The Manager is very helpful. Nice setting by the river. We'll be back!

I have been travelling weekly for 9 years and stayed at hundreds of motels in this time. I have been given the Coromandel region now and was looking for a reasonably priced motel. Gave the Rolleston Motel a go and would never come back after contracting nasty bed bug bites. Place was way over-priced for what it was and had to offer. Saw me coming and took me for a ride. I have never had bed bugs in over 9 years of travel. NASTY AND DISGUSTING !
