Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Thank you so much to the amazing hosts for looking after us . After a very unexpected 2.5 hour drive to hospital and a long afternoon and evening in the ED, we were too tired to navigate the roads home again with recent storm slips .. called at 9.40pm with fingers crossed someone would answer , to be greeted by a kind voice willing to have a key waiting, light on and a beautiful clean well presented room waiting for us. We do appreciate this so much. Well appointed , super clean , comfortable stay.

We were offered a choice here of a small studio or a slightly more expensive apartment with all flat access. We opted for the latter. Lovely big bright room with excellent kitchen and dining amenities. Lovely wet room. Big comfy bed. I wasn't able to access the pool due to the difficult and wobbly steps but it felt cold anyway. Managed the hot tub with assistance which was very pleasant. Parking looked a little tight at one end but it was fine for us.

I recently made a booking at this motel, but I actually was wanting to book at a motel in Canterbury, which has a similar name. Completely my fault and I did not check my confirmation email properly. Anyway, problem only came to light the day I was meant to check in. The motel rang me about something else and on talking we discovered my mistake. The staff were extremely understanding and helpful and despite their cancellation policy clearly stating 2 days notice was required or full payment would be taken, they gave me a generous discount on this. Their cooperation was awesome, especially at a time when their industry has been hit so hard by the pandemic. If I am ever in Thames again, I will absolutely stay at this establishment to support them and acknowledge their lovely staff/management.

Our room was clean and tidy but the kitchen area was in need of some maintenance. The light fitting in the kitchen are was in need of a clean and the power point was very loose on the wall.
Bathroom had a good shower but the lounge area was a little dull (dim lights).

The rooms at the Rolleston were large and included a good size kitchenette and very large bathroom. They were immaculately clean. There is a great outdoor area with a pool, bbq and outdoor seating. The managers were very friendly and helpful - they even offered us free fejoas.

This is our 2nd stay here and I can’t recommend it enough. Clean, spacious & newly renovated. Lovely small town genuine hospitality. Close to town & restaurants. We walked down to the water (200 meters) for fish, chips & a beer while watching the sun set. We will be back. Well done team & thank you!

Welcoming reception. Very clean and well maintained, we got a king room which is one of the newer rooms at the back, very reasonably priced. Good internet access and choice of TV channels, neat little kitchenette and great shower - when we renovate we want one just like it!

Well maintained and very clean and comfortable. Fixtures and sittings a bit dated. Welcoming arrival, obviously good parking, usual motel fittings and quiet. An easy walk into town for us but it is about 2km. Numerous places to dine in town. Overall we felt it was a bit pricey, however we had a comfortable stay.
WiFi was good.

Room Tip: Far ends of the grounds gave us a private, sunny area that our sliding door opened onto.

We enjoyed our stay, was the next door water pipe noise that lowered my rating, could hear every time they used kitchen water.
Room was comfortable, room to move around and decent size table to sit at.
Pool and spa were great, little bit chilly but that is the time of year.
