The Lady Bowen Bed and Breakfast has a Historic Places Category 2 listing. Guests can stay in this charming 156 year old building that has been lovingly renovated into very comfortable heritage accommodation. The layout of the building remains much as it was in 1868, with bedrooms and guest bathroom upstairs and guest lounge and guest dining areas downstairs. Guests also enjoy use of the front balcony, covered deck and garden areas. It is a short flat stroll to the many eateries, cafes and takeaways in historic Thames. We are about half a block from the waters edge of the Firth of Thames and the walkway that runs along it. The Hauraki Cycle Trail is also close-by and it's a short drive to the world famous Pinnacles walk and many other great walks in the area. We are an ideal base for a holiday around the Coromandel or as we are less than 90 mins from Auckland International (and Domestic) airport are the perfect accommodation for a first or last night of a New Zealand holiday.

A very competitive price which includes a cooked breakfast, toiletries, and a drink on arrival. Great location for accessing local hiking trails, and after your day's adventures it's walking distance to local eateries. I really enjoyed my stay here.

My husband and I loved the Lady Bowen B&B it is in very good hands with Barbara and Stu. All rooms are beautifully appointed and waking up to sounds of the birds softly tweeting was glorious. The shared bathrooms are immaculately kept so please don't be put off by this offering. It is absolutely no bother and toiletries and beautifully smelling fluffy towels are provided. There is a glorious upstairs balcony that you can sit on or alternately an equally stunning garden deck for a beverage of choice. Barbara and Stu clearly love their garden and also welcome group arrangements of travellers. If you happen to be riding on a bike they can also provide a suitable option for the bike if you ask.
The cooked breakfast was sensational. Our only personal fault was that we did not follow through on the dinner recommendation of Gastronomic's and I'm know kicking myself for not heading the advice. Thames is very walkable so leave you mode of transport and stretch your legs. We Truly enjoyed Thames and the Lady Bowen B&B

Stu was very welcoming, the rooms are well kept and very clean-very comfy mattresses and new sheets and fluffy towels. Shared bathrooms are immaculate and plentiful so no queuing. Cooked breakfast was delicious. Perfect overnight stay on the way to doing the Pinnacles as a day hike. Thanks Stu.

We spent two nights here - arriving exhausted after our bikes became stuck in mud on an impassible stretch of the Hauraki Rail Trail. Our hosts went way beyond the call of duty, helping us clean up, relax and even fix our e-bike. Truly wonderful.

The hospitality started the minute we arrived. We asked if we could wash our bikes after a day of cycling in the rain. No cleaning your bikes and putting your batteries on charge is part of the service. We were given a history tour of the house, shown to our rooms and offered a wine and beer with a lovely cheese and meat platter which we enjoyed on the top veranda. I had cut my leg while cycling which our host noticed and gave me several plasters to keep the cut covered. The cooked breakfast next morning was large and well cooked with a choice of breads for toast. Juice too. There is hot water and tea/coffee/hot chocolate available 24/7 and biscuits or sweets to have with your drinks.
The whole house is spotlessly clean. The bedrooms are lovely and the bedding top quality. The guest lounge was nicely decorated for Xmas.

I had made a mistake with the booking and I had booked a week early and not turned up. Stuart was really good no problem and booked us in a room for no extra charge. Stuart does a great talk on the history of this very historic building followed by offering us a complimentary beer or glass of wine, fantastic customer service. Our room was great, good bed, spacious and clean. There is also a large well appointed guest lounge which has a pool table The garden area is sunny, lots of interesting plants and an easy place to relax. The breakfast is excellent cereal and fruit followed by a cooked breakfast. Great Kiwi hospitality and we whole heartedly recommend this as a wonderful place to stay in the Thames area.

Fantastic old world service in an authentic bed and breakfast. Booked late in the afternoon and hosts were there to greet us, show us the original property and very comfortable room. Beautifully cooked breakfast followed by personal recommendations for the local area. Great hosts, thanks Sean and Barbara

This was a great find and we would definitely come back if staying in Thames. Location is a quick walk to the beach and other places of interest in town. There's so much history and character in Thames, we wished we could have stayed longer. The shared toilets and showers were clean and never an issue, even though when we stayed there were 9 others - never felt crowded or had to wait. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Thank you Stu and Barbara for upgrading us too - very kind and generous of you! We also enjoyed the wine and Daisy's company out in the garden. Will definitely recommend!

It was good to experience a high quality b&b in this historic town. The owners are clearly going the extra mile to make their guests feel welcome. The breakfast was great and served early, as we had get going on our hike to the Pinnacles and back. We made good use of the pool table.

What a little charmer. Welcomed by Barb and Stu with a lovely warm fire, glass of red, cheeses and lovely conversation. Rooms were so cosy, bed comfy. Shared bathroom was so spotless and even being quite full never saw any other guest. Walking distance to the town centre for dinner. Breakfast was delicious and a friendly chat with Stu while cooking. Such wonderful history in this little B&B. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you so much.

I've generally have asked for breakfast between 07:00 and 07:30 depending on how my working day is planned, however you'll be better contacting them as they do ask when you'd like breakfast and they can also give a run down of the menu with you.
