We had one night in Chartre Manor on our way home from northland. We chose this B and B after reading many excellent reviews. We couldn’t fault it. Pauline and Dennis are exceptional hosts. We were welcomed with a beautiful afternoon tea and given a good recommendation for dinner at the Junction Hotel where we received a complimentary drink because we were staying at Chartre Manor. Plentiful fresh fruit salad, cereals, yoghurt etc for breakfast as well as a very good cooked breakfast. There were many extra little touches - chocolates after dinner, torch by the bed. We highly recommend this B and B.

We are making our way through New Zealand and our first night out of Auckland was in Thames. Booked at Chartre Manor which is my first ever B&B. Did not know what to expect but had a fabulous time. We were greeted by Dennis and Coco and then Pauline, shown to our room which was large and spacious and en suite, and immediately offered tea and cookies. Sat and chatted to Dennis whilst we unwound and he gave us pointers on where to go the following day and where to eat in the evening. Spot on for both Dennis, thanks. Had the option of cooked or continental breakfast and chose continental and were offered a huge fresh fruit salad which was lovely, cereal, yoghurt and toast and some home made honey. Breakfast was great and kept us going. We stayed two days and would highly recommend the place. Great views over to the sea and so lovely to chill on the veranda and watch the sun set. Had the house to ourselves the second evening but no problem to being in food and eat outside. We felt like part of the family not paying guests. For a first time B&B guest this was amazing and will be a hard act to follow. Thanks Pauline and Dennis.

We traveled from the Bay of Islands and needed a place to stay prior to beginning the Coromandel peninsula. Fortunately, we chose Chartre Manor. Dennis and Pauline were wonderful hosts and we chatted with them for hours on their patio overlooking the bay. A nice breakfast was served before we had to say good bye to continue our journey. If you are anywhere near Thames, you must stay here.

A very warm, friendly welcome awaited us at Chartre Manor . We started our stay with afternoon tea of fresh scones on the deck with views forever. Our rooms and bathrooms were spacious and spotlessly clean as were the guest lounge and dining room. Very comfortable beds and good WiFi. Pauline and Dennis made us feel at home from the start. Breakfast was fresh and generous - fresh fruits and full cooked breakfast - all beautifully presented and delicious. A close drive from town, a good base for exploring the Coromandel and easily accessible from Auckland airport, it is a great place to start or finish a holiday in New Zealand. All in all, a wonderful stay!

This is a wonderful B&B owned and run by the lovely Pauline and Dennis and their adorable dog Coco. They couldn't do enough for us, the home cooked breakfast was yummy and Pauline catered for my dietary requirements (coeliac) without batting an eyelid. The house is in an amazing location with views over the bay. There is a guest area with lounge and tv, a large varanda and a pool area. We had a fabulous 2 nights ( my Dad had stayed previously several years ago and it was as great as he remembers). I would definitely return. Thanks guys 😁

Pauline and Dennis (and Coco the dog) couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. They made us feel at home in their lovely guesthouse. Views from the balcony were stunning, the house is comfortable, clean and has a relaxed vibe. Pauline gave us a lunchbox and home made muffins to take on our hike, gave tips and restaurant reviews and even offered a lift back from town if we didn't feel up to the walk. I would highly recommend Chartre Manor.

Myself and my husband wanted 2 nights in Thames, looked for accommodation in the town hotel/motel but nothing caught our fancy untill we came across this little gem, we thought we would give a B&B a try and were not disappointed!! This place from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave was fantastic!! We booked the romantic cottage which was just fabulous, everything you need and more. The hosts Dennis and Pauline were amazing, we really didn't know what to expect but from the moment we arrived we felt completely at home and welcome. We arrived around 6pm and was greated with a bottle of wine, beers for my husband and a fantastic cheese platter with everything on there and more, sat outside with the fabulous company of Dennis , Pauline and not forgetting coco the very well behavied gorgeous wee dog plus the most amazing view you have ever seen. This place is magical , everything was simply perfect and to top it off we got a fabulous cooked breakfast, pancakes! Nothing was too much and Dennis and Pauline went above and beyond our expectations . We 100% recommend this place to stay and we will most definitely be back. Thankyou so much for having myself and Jeff, we thoroughly enjoyed your company and for treating us like family, home away from home. See you next time. Much love Suzy n Jeff Riley
