On the positive side, the rooms were generally clean. However, a closer look revealed details like un-swept areas under the beds, indicating a lack of thorough cleaning. The beds, while acceptable, were notably hard, which might not suit everyone's comfort preferences.
We had hoped for a larger unit with a direct sea view, especially since our stay was longer than average. Regrettably, this was not fulfilled, leading to some disappointment. It's worth noting that while the motel's location is excellent for exploring the Coromandel Peninsula, it's not ideal for those primarily seeking a beach experience.
The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the sunset. Although it didn't set directly into the sea, the view of the sun dipping behind the mountain ridge was quite spectacular. In summary, while the motel offers basic accommodations and stunning sunset views, it could greatly benefit from renovation and more attention to detail in cleaning.
We arrived in the dark and it was very wet weather so it was not the best way to arrive as everything looked dreary. We have a large ute so we did have to park that carefully under the front awning, but it did fit.
However, once we got inside, it was nice and warm once the heat pump had warmed the cabin and it was spacious. We had a fabulous sleep in the peaceful neighbour hood and with the sky clouded over, there were no visible stars and no moonlight and the opposite shores covered in a wet haze. It was wonderful for my niece from Melbourne to see pitch black night for the very first time as we looked out across the Firth of Thames!
The room/living area was large, good size bathroom, kitchen with all the pots n pans, cutlery, fridge and microwave , exactly what we needed.
Friendly locals, loved the shops in Thames, everyone we encountered was just great.
Recommended to all who enjoy the seaside.
The only noise was people parking up at the reserve to check out the views.
We will be back.
Thankyou
