Visited one night stop over oct 2023
The rooms are dated, especially the bathroom with it's blown plastic metallic blue counter top. The beds were comfortable though and it served it's purpose.
We ate in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast.
Dinner was good, wine was very good and service was likewise.
Breakfast was unfortunately mediocre to say the least. Food wasn't that hot and in the main was tasteless. The coffee was probably the worst coffee ever experienced. When asked for a proper filter coffee, the waitress reluctantly provided but with the comment "I'm not supposed to do this".
One massive plus point was the free secure parking on site which allows to to wheel your bags in the dry straight to the car.
Like I say, it provided a nights sleep on our way to Wellington but as a hotel, the rooms need some updating.

It was a disappointment upon check in, the room was cold, squeeky floors, the air conditioning wasn't working, the unattractive room wasn't really worth for the $330 including breakfast per night. We wanted out but won't be refunded. They offered another room, worst, air con was blowing cold air and small. Both rooms were clean, redeeming qualities. We took room 1 and they gave us an oil heater. I complained the following morning due to lack of sleep and managed to change to another room, far better. They should have changed it to a better room upon check in. The morning staff was better with their customer service and upon check out has offered us a free coffee.

A fine place to stay when you have business meetings in Palmerston North with its central location I was able to walk to most of my meetings. Very handy to lunch and dinner locations as well. Cuba St is rather quiet at night and my room was not road facing so I slept well. Comfortable room with all facilities clean and operational. Breakfast at Nosh is as good as any though a barista coffee should be included in the price of the cooked buffet breakfast. Wifi was excellent everywhere in the hotel.

Dear dougcoAuckland I really appreciate you taking the time to write a review about your recent stay at the Hotel. Feedback is an important part of our improvement process and it is always rewarding to receive positive reviews. The hotel is the closest property to the central city and it is very convenient for accessing all the city has to offer. I have taken on board your comment about the coffee being included and we will review this? Again thank you for your review and we wish you all the best with your future hotel stays. Very Best Regards Dean Nicol

Great room and amazing staff!
We needed accommodation on very short notice as the place we had booked was filthy and unsuitable, we had been up since 4.30am and it was 8.30pm. Lance listened to me when I was checking access to the first floor due to my son being on crutches due to a fracture pelvis, with out asking he offered a mobility room. Check in was a breeze even at 8.30pm and no reservation, walk in shower with seat was great. Lovely buffet breakfast available on site too

We really liked the Heritage room we had on the top second floor. At first, Room 209 on the corner seemed cold but it proved easy to heat with the radiator heater provided. The bedding was luxurious and toasty warm at night. The gentleman on Reception who checked us in was really pleasant and positive. The renovated shower and bathroom area was superb!

Been stopping here for the last 5 years.. great location and lovely staff.. just one big occurring problem that’s still unsolved 5 years on… the air conditioning..
everyone on the second floor had issues with their aircon not working.. numerous complaints have been made over the years.. the reception had run out of fans too so thats quite a big indication it’s an issue? They did try to solve the issue by resetting it but has never worked over the years either.. finally they tried removing a ceiling panel in the bathroom to let the air flow? Which did naff all on a scorching hot day ! Family stopping on the level above us had no problems at all.. so I recommend if you book this hotel during the summer months to ask for a room on level 3.

I booked many months ( 10) earlier as we were coming for a wedding and had booked 3 rooms. By chance happened to be in Palmy the weekend before the wedding and thought I’ll just check on our booking as we needed to change the number of people coming. To my surprise our rooms were not booked even though I had a confirmation email to state that it was all confirmed for those rooms and dates (3 nights) To our rescue was a lovely lady Julie who was on reception that day. She managed to change and sort everything so we had the rooms we needed. Thank you Julie.
Oh but after such hard work by one member to make our stay great it was let down by the rooms themselves. The bed had stained sheets, a very loud and noisy air conditioner, a coffee machine provided as we had a suite, but no coffee pods to use in it. The next day I noticed our bed wasn’t made just pulled up and areas of the room were dusty. It did improve for the other days. Not a 4 star hotel at all more like a 2 star. We felt it was over priced and so won’t be staying again .

Check in was very fast and the staff were efficient. The car parking was free and very secure as you used your room key to enter the gated park. We stayed on the first floor and our room was very spacious, the closet was sliding glass mirror doors which I found very nice to do my makeup and hair in the morning. The bathroom was pretty average but it did the trick. The only fault I could give this place is that the outside seems quite dated compared to the inside.

Comfortable stay overall but shower curtain around a bath will always end up with water everywhere in the bathroom and no genuine aircon in room do a fan is provided which I used all night. Breakfast has a coffee machine with only 3 settings: mocha, long black, espresso. First attempt at the long black left no room for milk and the milk jug either didn't pour when you were careful or poured all over the floor when you weren't. I tried the espresso next and the coffee was cold. Now that I had poured milk all over the floor, there would be a wait for cappuccino which was at an extra cost to me. After being canceled on flights out of Palmerston North the previous day I was pretty over it and decided to head to the airport to get a coffee.

We visisted for a weekend and were amazed at how reasonable the prices were, especially for the quality of room and hotel. It was a great weekend, the room was large, king size bed and very comfortable. We enjoyed having a few drinks in the bar, the location was central to town, the staff were friendly, even opening the bar early for us on a public holiday!! Very much appreciated. We will definitely be back.
