Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a fantastic stay with such a big group. Our rooms were either beside each other up above/below each other so allowed us all to be together. Shaun was a fantastic host and went above and beyond to accommodate us all and he also makes the most amazing muffins!!! Thank you so much.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights after our daughter was taken to the Emergency Department in the Hospital. This was a stressful few days but the fabulous service and support given by the motel management made a huge difference, nothing was too much trouble for them.
The unit was spotlessly clean and very well equipped and appointed. The bed was very comfortable. Free off street parking and fantastic cooked breakfasts (very reasonably priced) were bonuses.
We will definitely stay here again.
Thanks again Shaun and Phillipa!!!

I stayed here for a few days after getting out of my compulsory quarantine in Auckland. I drove down and arrived later than expected due to getting a little lost on the way - Shaun was very friendly and didn’t mind that I arrived a few minutes after reception closed.
The bed was very comfy and I slept great. There was a heated blanket and also a fan available, which was useful for me as someone who likes to sleep under warm covers, but in a cold room!
The kitchen and bathroom were also up to great standard.
There is a hot tub available for use in the spa, and laundry facilities are also available to use too!
I got confused and thought I had booked for an extra day - Shaun didn’t mind my late check out even though it was many hours after the check out time.
The booking was made on my behalf so I can’t comment on the booking process, but from everything I have experienced from this stay, I would definitely come back if I need a motel stay again, and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay in Palmy!

I intended to stay for 10 days as my partner was in hospital over the road after being in intensive for a month. On the first morning I enquired about the laundry and was told it was $10 a load which I queried as it's more than twice as expensive as a laundromat. The extremely rude and belligerent guy at the front desk who is also the host and owner told me to "go to the laundromat then". When I said that wasn't a helpful response, especially given my stressful situation, he said "that's not my problem". I checked out immediately. Why have a motel over from a hospital if you have zero compassion for people at their lowest point - and when there are other great motels literally next door? I decamped to Carramar Motor Inn next door for the remaining 9 nights who were excellent.

Man rung at the counter saying my card didn’t work when I had money in it, then he proceeds to tell me it didn’t work and rejected it which is not my problem when it works at every other place I have been too. I had my whole family booked there and then rings once and doesn’t run the numbers through with me and then cancels the room giving it to someone else. I had my mum and dad staying there for the Mack truck show, so he knows it was confirmed and was just arrogant and awful even belittling over the phone!!! Now leaving nowhere for us to go!! After reading his google reviews it’s not the first time he has had card processing issues. Being a business owner myself this is really poor service and appalling attitude by the owner.

Staff at A'Abode were friendly, the rooms are clean, tidy and well serviced on a regular basis. Excellent having a Guest Laundry too, a bit sad about the spa pool, but the awesome rain shower was enjoyed everyday. Loved the off street parking and two entry/exit enterances were really helpful too.
Awesome to be able to walk across the road to visit hubby in hospital....

The guy behind the desk was very abrupt and not at all friendly. I have a hospital appointment where I have to fast for 36 hours.I went and ask the guy if I could come back to the unit and make my first cup of tea in over a day. His reply was as long as it is before 10am. So I got back to the unit at 9.30 and the cleaner was in there, with my stuff to one side. I ask why she is in my room, as I didn't have to be out of unit until 10am, her replied I was told to come and clean this unit. Yet he knew I wanted to come back. Not impressed. Very friendly guy.

Clean tidy room, with a comfortable bed. Nice big bathroom and spa bath. Close to busy road and hospital but the noise didn't disturb inside the unit. Shops for food nearby and also eating places. Would stay again.

Excellent friendly service here.
Going above and beyond by bringing our bags downstairs for us.
Rooms was pretty good too.
OK, so there's a bit of noise, but you expect that next to the hospital.
Would recommend, and would stay here again.
Thanks

Wonderful, helpful host. Spacious, quiet, clean accomodation right across from the hospital, all at a very reasonable rate. Great laundry facilities and lots of parking. We will definitely stay here again.
