I’ve stayed here so many times I’ve lost count. Over the last year or so I’ve noted that it’s started going down hill. Unsure if it’s due to $$ being tight after the impact of COVID-19 to the hospitality sector or that management don’t care. I used to enjoy being welcomed by the friendly receptionists but the last couple of times it’s really left a lot to be desired- it appears they have a really high turnover of staff. The rooms and furniture are starting to get worn down. The tower rooms were renovated in 2014, but little appears to be being done as ongoing improvement/repair. The bathrooms are really showing their age now. I feel like everything is sub-par. My most recent stay I was in a junior suite. It didn’t have a bottle opener in the room and a receptionist had to use one from the bar (which I appreciated) but got asked how many drinks I was having and when I would be having them, because it’s the only one in the hotel and they needed it to open drinks in the bar that evening. There was a tear in the sheer curtain in the bedroom with some mould? stains. Cobwebs all over the window sills. They’ve recently installed these big gates at the entranceways which is not very welcoming at all- not sure what this is to achieve? Unless perhaps they’ve had a crime issue. It would be nice to see if management can maybe try and get a spark back into their staff and maybe look at doing a future renovation on the rooms. I’m at the point that I’d look at staying elsewhere in Palmerston North as I don’t believe it offers value for money like it once did.

Thank you for the review Liam. Certainly very difficult times for our industry, and yes workforce turnover has increased notably since covid arrived on our shores, and borders were closed to international workers. There are a number of investment projects due to commence shortly, which i am happy to discuss with you in person on your next visit should you choose to stay with us

Kudos to Copthorne Palmerston North. The event we were travelling for was cancelled due to Covid-19. I sent an enquiry asking what our options were and the Copthorne offered a full refund immediately. Very impressed with the service. Happily book there again.

This was the 4 time of staying but the first in the hotel, (we normally have the grandkids with us and have a family room outside) it was a nice surprise to be upgraded to a suite for our wedding anniversary..great views from the 6th floor. Breakfast was served in our room due to Covid but was delicious as ever…the staff are always friendly and nothing is a problem…will definitely go back again.

Impressed with staff on front desk. Room was nice, comfortable bed, good shower (have to run awhile for hot water to reach 6th floor). Room service was only option due to covid levels. Could not fault service at all. I really enjoyed the quality of the food I ordered. Parking was plenty. Very central hotel. I would stay again. Thanks.

Trying times under lockdown level 2, no restaurant open for meals and we didn’t realise that as we had booked prior to this lockdown. However Lovely comfortable bed, nice quiet place, clean room and delicious breakfast delivered exactly on time, friendly staff, thank you
