Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed at this motel for a week in Palmerston North, New Zealand. The reception area is very open and green with pot plants inside and bushes outside. Arrived around 7pm and easy check in. Once inside our room, it was clean and tidy. The kitchen was well equipped and was a good sized family room. The price was reasonable and only paid at the end of my stay. Only complaint was the cleaners missed two days of making our beds. The shampoo satchets were divine and citrusi. I recommend this lovely motel that is of an old character but with a modern twist. Have a stay and you will find out why.

Staff were very friendly & helpful. The room was spacious & clean, altho a little tired. The bed was very comfortable. No noise from adjoining rooms. Cutlery/plates/kitchen equipment was reasonable. Full stove & microwave provided. Local restaurants not too far a walk. Free parking & generous free wifi.

Reasonably spacious room & comfortable bed; clean; tidy; friendly staff; free wifi; parking. Read short walk to cafes/restaurants & city centre. Building & facilities probably a bit tired. On main SH3, so easy access.

Very disappointed. Old and run down. Stain on stainless steel benchtop, paint spills in bathroom, broken drawer in bathroom and broken drawer handle in bedroom. The strangest spare bed arrangement I’ve ever seen where the bed slides into the wall of the room next door. Cobwebs and spiders in the corners of the ceilings. Glad only there for one night.

We hadn‘t expected much here, and were pleasantly surprised. The room was well-equiped and comfortable, with a pleasant sitting out area. The staff were most friendly and helpful. The location was excellent for car drivers, but otherwise would have been difficult.

Stayed with a family recently and was underwhelmed for the price. Very dated facility in need of some elbow grease. Not hot water for at least 12 hours during our stay with two small kids not ideal. Location is ok, short walk to city center. Outdoor play ground for kids was great. Would consider elsewhere if looking in Palmy again.

We stayed as a family and the room was comfotable and all we neeeed for 1 night. The unit was a bit tired and needed some updating, paint was peeling and doors needed repairs. Our 2 year old granddaughter loved the play area. Price was reasonable for the unit we had.

This was a stop over motel for us on the way to Wellington. The reception was very quick to process everything and since we were new to the area she even explained the best route to get when going out of Palmerston North and onto the road leading to Wellington. We had a room upstairs, small flight of stairs and there was a carpark just underneath from where we stayed and the stairs had sensor light on it from memory. The good thing was that since we had to leave early around 4am the lady at the reception told us to just lock the door and leave the key in the door since we had already paid. The rooms had column oil heaters as well as wall heaters. Very spacious and can fit a whole family plus a few I believe. The best part was the amazing shower. It was top notch. Tea and coffee and hot chocolate was provided. All in all, a nice place for stop over or for visiting Palmerston North and reasonably priced as well.

Wasn’t sure what to expect after reading mixed reviews. Stayed with our kids in a family room and were very happy. A good amount of space and very clean and tidy. Really good shower pressure and good wifi coverage. Would definitely stay here again when we next come back to Palmy.

I stayed for the work week. I had huge difficulty on the first night sleeping as it was 30 degrees that day and the only way to cool the room was to leave the ranch slider open, but with little wind this was useless. That did mean no more than 3 hours sleep and a bit of a rotten day following. I bought a fan and the weather cooled so it was better from there and I had no further trouble sleeping. The room itself had everything I needed. The kitchen had a full stove with oven, a microwave and all the essential cooking implements. The room was spotless and room service meant clean towels, tea-towel and dishcloth daily. After a long day I could relax and watch Sky, or use the free wifi (which didn't appear to have a limit). I would definitely stay again in winter but I think I would struggle in summer (caveat, I do struggle in the heat, although 30 degrees is pretty warm).
