This cost us $120 and frankly, it could have been worth it but was probably about $30 too much in our case. I'll start with the good stuff - nice big room with a good heater (great for a chilly Palmy afternoon), great location - only about 5 minutes to the edge of town centre, a big spa bath and it seemed clean when we got it.
But there were a few things that really spoiled it for us - we had a lovely spa until we came to turn it off but the switch wouldn't work, ended up spraying water across the bathroom while i searched for a way to turn it off, finally turning off the circuit breaker (which also killed the hot water) and then searching behind beds until we found a panel we could pull off the wall to access a pump switch.
When we got into bed later that night we discovered the real 'down-side' - literally, while one side of the bed was fine the other had totally collapsed away, there was a massive hole which had me sleeping on my side, with my head and neck scrunched up - crappy sleep and a sore back in the morning.
When we left we did a final check around the room and found an empty beer bottle and other rubbish under the bed - makes you wonder how the rest of the room was cleaned.
As we checked out I tried to tell the lady at the counter about the issues - I got as far as the spa and she told me "we there's nothing I can do, I'll tell my boss" Didn't seem worth bothering her with the rest of the details really.
We won't be back, too many other nice looking places in Palmy.

Just stayed here and agree with previous reviews, good value, sign/ entrance appears old but interiors newly redone, neat, good bed, shower, and kitchen, friendly staff, even enjoyable pool. 5 min walk to square/ shopping or 5 minute drive to MU. Only other thoughts are to check wotif which was $20 less than website, ask for room without neighbours to avoid possible smoking or conversation noise, and free wifi limited to 100mb per stay.

Overwhelmed by the choice of motels on Fitzherbert Street we chose this one, and it turned out fine. It was $130 for a studio. The room was quite new, with clean basic furnishings and a heater. We had a very comfortable king bed, a spa bath (which we didn't really need) and a basic, functional kitchen. There was a TV and a laz-e-boy chair, which my husband liked, good free WiFi and a TV with Sky. The place has a pool (but too cold for swimming), plenty of parking and we had a back unit which was quiet. Close to plenty of dining choices. All over, pretty good for the money - and the bed was comfortable and warm, which was the most important thing.

My wife & I together with our canine companion stayed their for one night. The property is well located and within walking distance of the square. Our room was adequate for our needs. Bedside lighting would be a welcome addittion.

We were staying overnight for a family emergency and had previously booked at another motel but were very disappointed with that one on arrival. We found Ala Vista on line and decided to check it out. The host was very welcoming. Rooms were lovely and clean. Quiet area. We had a very restful sleep. Highly recommend.

Family gathering in palmerston north. One unit for 6 of us was perfect. Nothing flash but comfortable clean and warm. Plenty of parking. Rooms were tidy and well serviced. One of the double beds was a bit tired and rolled into the middle.

Location of the hotel was good, close to mall and airport - good walk down to Victoria Park. Room was large enough with lounge area and 2 bedrooms. Let down was the bathroom - the plug in the shower was broken and although we told the lady on the desk they didn’t do anything about it. There was also mould on the bathroom walls.

A La Vista was a bit cheaper than the other motels but don't let that worry you

The comfort and cleanliness of this motel is second to none. Its quiet & well maintained. The best heater I have ever encountered in a motel. The spa bath was exceptional in that all the jets worked. The housekeeping staff were tidy in appearance and cheerful. Plus good value for money. We will be back

We stayed here one night after finding the motel on Wotif. It was a standard motel room but pleasant enough with a couple of extra touches, such as a jar of mints. The spa bath was excellent. The breakfast was very good and delivered right on time. The proximity to town and other restaurants was very good. If it hadn't been too cold I would have used the swimming pool which looked enticing - a nice setting and very clean.
