Our Farm stay experience in New Zealand was beyond words - it was truly exceptional. This journey became one of the most cherished memories of our lives. Here are the details of our stay:

Host Family: The family who owned the farm welcomed us with warmth and hospitality. They taught us everything about running the farm and made us feel like part of their family.

Accommodations: The farm's accommodations were clean and comfortable, situated in a serene environment surrounded by nature.

Farm Experience: Our experiences on the farm were truly amazing. We learned about the importance and joy of farming.

Nature and Outdoor Activities: The farm was blessed with natural beauty and breathtaking scenery. We were listening to the birds' melodies, and breathing in the fresh air.

Meals: The farm's meals featured local ingredients and were incredibly fresh and delicious.

Overall: This Farm stay experience was genuinely special for us. Thanks to New Zealand's stunning natural surroundings and the welcoming host family, we created heartwarming memories. We look forward to returning someday.

Thank you once again for providing such an incredible experience. We wholeheartedly recommend your Farm stay to others.

We can't wait to visit again!

While hundreds of Palmerston North hotels were available to me and my family, we chose to stay at Penhaven Farm because we felt it would be a wonderful experience. As expected, it was wonderful.

To those who are making plans for their trip, here is some advice for your reference. You have to be there, stay there, talk to them, feel them, and build a connection with them, and then you will know that a score or comments may only cover a small fraction of their preciousness; a simple rating system or comments can't reveal even a tenth of Marie and Paul's farm life and their beautiful characters and personalities.

Sniff, bite, chew, and taste. Feel the freshness of homemades from Marie, they're organic, and they come from the hostess's veggie garden, and you will appreciate her creativity and diligence.

Walk, observe, learn, and even do farm work with Paul to understand the real lifestyle of a modern farmer and the meaning of #8 ethos. If you are lucky enough, you might have some best-class camembert from the host because he was a world-class cheese expert who won the 2022 World Championship Cheese Contest.

Sit, relax, sip your drink, and talk with Marie and Paul, listen to their stories and exchange yours, deepen your bonds of friendship with them. They are the ones who definitely write letters during the Christmas holidays and plan for another visit every a few years.

Well, it's not a review, it's personal advice for those who will stay at Penhaven Farm and become friends with Marie and Paul in the future, as we have already done recently.

Marie and Paul are awesome hosts! We had a great tour of their farm, meeting all the animals! Before dinner, we sat in their living room, gazing out across the incredible landscape. It was so relaxing. Dinner was delicious! The best lamb we have ever had! Everything about our stay was wonderful. Great food, great conversation, welcoming hosts!

Marie and Paul are so lovely and do everything to make your stay enjoyable. I'm glad I went in spring because I got to meet the lambs and the see the calves. They are doing their best to create a beautiful part of the world, and I'm grateful they shared it with me for the night. Marie makes amazing food and mostly from their garden, and entirely from scratch. Really incredible!

It was a very lovely moment for me with my family as expected from this stay. The silence and ambience attracted the most. The food and the host definitely added glitters throughout the stay. They entertained our kids which gave us a break. The couple (Marie & Paul) engaged well with kids giving us the moment be with each other. also they helped in making my Mum feel comfortable in their space with whatever they had. Now have decided to visit this place every year if possible, to energize ourselves with the break we need.

We have just had a wonderful few days at Penhaven with our two city-bred grandsons: Oliver aged 10 and George aged 5.
Marie and Paul were perfect hosts and made us feel welcome and comfortable. Both were very good with our young boys, who were boisterous at times, finding them games, toys and books to hold their attention.
The boys really loved getting up close to the animals, which were very tame and quite curious.
We had our own wing so although sleeping inside the house we still felt we had our own space, which was great. The home-cooked meals featured fresh fruit and vegetables from the gardens, and all meals were delicious.
The large picture windows looked out onto the Tararua ranges and the views were striking and continuously changing, featuring lots of lazily-circling windmills.
We recommend Penhaven and would happily go again.

Marie and Paul are awesome hosts who have so much heart in caring for their animals and guests! Accommodation was so cosy we had trouble getting up for breakfast (sorry Marie 😅).
Meals were all prepared with love and absolutely delicious! We especially like how 99% of the ingredients were from the farm! The best part was the animal therapy from the sweetest pet lambs, goat, deer and cows 😍 (I miss Bobo already). Thank you for a wonderful experience and the best hospitality we could've asked for.

Marie and Paul offered many unique farmstay experiences. I had the opportunity to hand feed and handle real farm animals including Red deer cows & calves, goats and sheep.
I learned about some of their animal farming and grazing practices.
I enjoyed amazing walking experiences with Marie.
All the while I was able to feast on tonight home grown organic produce prepared in their modern and scenic kitchen.
I was also privileged to meet several friends, who are highly talented local artists.
The beautiful outlook across to the mountains seen from most rooms in their home is a sight for sore eyes.

I cannot recommend this homestay highly enough.
