My flight from Palmerston North was cancelled, and Air New Zealand gave me a 2 night stay voucher to this motel while awaiting re-booking: it was very nice, safe, and convenient. It's close to the airport and the hospital is directly across the street. My room was very clean and contained a shower, a separate tub, 2 burner electric stove, microwave, dormitory- sized refrigerator, clean linens, and a TV. Meg and Gary were very pleasant, attentive, and helpful. Cafe Zest is next door but closes at 3 PM Friday and SAT/SUN, but there's Cafe Cravings, a Dairy and an Asian take out with Fish and Chips right down the street, within easy walking distance for other food options. I did not pay (airline did) so I can't speak about

If you are looking for accommodation in Palmerston North, situated in a quiet location and offering spacious units, let Datinder(Monty) welcome you to carramar Motel. You will find Carammar motel located in the heart of Palmerston North which is very close to hospital and only few blocks from the city centre where you will find some of the cities best restaurants, cafes, bars and shops for retail therapy. They offer many choices in rooms where you can choose as per your budget. Mattresses in the rooms are very comfortable and gives you a feel at home. Parking your vehicle is not a problem, which is suitable for cars, coaches, trailers and light trucks.

We spent two nights in an Executive Studio Twin room in the Carramar Motor Inn. The room was big, with a double and a single bed - both divinely comfortable. The amenities available included a fridge, tea and coffee-making facilities, toaster, microwave, hairdryer, TV with Sky channels, free Wifi, etc. There was also a desk for us to work at, if we wished.
The bathroom was huge! It had a floor big enough to waltz on, and a full bath - in addition to the roomy shower with fantastic water pressure.
The unit was new and fresh, and immaculately clean.
The Cafe attached to the motel was great. We liked being able to build our own breakfasts. We enjoyed the food, service and surroundings so much that we had two breakfasts and two lunches there!
The motel is located opposite the entrance to the Palmerston North Hospital. This would be a wonderful place to stay if you wanted to be close to a patient there.
We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this motel to others. We would also like to thank Datinder for his kindnesses to us throughout our stay.

We were pleasantly surprised, after other recent experiences elsewhere, to walk into a modern, immaculately clean, well appointed studio room. There was a desk, separate table and chairs plus ample space to spare for a studio.
The very adequate kitchenette was modern and spotless.
The bathroom was huge and had a brilliant stand alone shower where water pressure was consistent, along with the water temperature.
There was a bath also. Totally unexpected at this price point.
Bed comfortable.
The stand out for us was the cleanliness, friendly staff, and the quiet, yet central location.
Definitely recommend.

Stayed here for 3 nights and it is lovely and clean and modern with parking available. Unit was great for our family with a nice bathroom and kitchen to make our own toast and coffee etc which helps save money when travelling, and great when you have small children. Has a cafe onsite which makes good coffee and nice breakfast. The reception were very accommodating as we arrived quite late and it was not a problem. You do get quite a bit of road noise and hospital noise, so I guess it depends on what unit. Would definitely stay again but would ask for a room off the main road just for the traffic noise.

They expect 52hours notice for cancellation - even though they will let the room to another customer. Really hard to get hold of and the woman answering the phone is rude and pretty much laughs in your face that they ripped you off! Sorry I am used to dealing with reputable places who only ever require 24hours for cancellation. They prey on the vulnerability of people with sick relatives in Palmy hospital.

The room was so dirty and had a very unpleasant smell.
The duvet on the bed was dirty with good marks, I had to was the plates and cutlery before I could use, as they had left over food on them from past guest.
I ended up purchasing cleaning items from the supermarket to clean the bench, desk and side tables.
The seat of the toilet and the surround had urine splashes, not cleaned.
Would not stay here again.

The owner should be ashamed of such poor cleaning standards.

I have been in many rooms at the Carramar. "Monty" is most helpful to make your stay pleasant. All of the rooms that i have been in have a modern theme. It is located directly across the road from Palmerston North Hospital perfect if your have to visit a sick friend or whatever you need to do. I use it for business purposes and wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Friendly staff, clean, great food and great facilities all round. Booked in for an extra night which was accommodated. Would definately come back again. Have stayed in other motels and chose this one due to only needing a one bedroom option based on photo and cost.

My recent stay at this motel was a complete letdown. The room was small, carpet dirty and the bathroom was filthy. The receptionist adverted our room without letting us know and just at 7:0 clock in the evening he told us to leave before 10 am tomorrow as he was fully booked. We requested him but he was not considerate. We had to find and shift to another airbnb the same night as we were working in the hospital the for the next morning. I wouldn't advise anyone to stay here.
