Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We stayed 2 nights here. Nice clean hotel, very friendly staff. Security measures are strict getting into building and into your room. This hotel occupies 5 floors of an office building. Parking is a bit limited in the area. Beware, it’s patrolled during the day. There is a nice park across the street. Also a few eating places and churches nearby. We enjoyed our stay.

We stayed there for the first time on a Saturday and Sunday night. One-bedroom flat was spacious, quiet and well-equipped. It has only just been taken over by new people. Great to have washing machine and dryer as i was there for a sporting event. Good do with a second hand-towel and more dishwashing liquid but there is a dishwasher too! Brilliant location for walking to most places in Palmerston NOrth. Good view of the square. We did not use their parking as the weekend was mostly free anyway in the street directly outside the hotel. Would definitely stay again. Doug looked after us well.

My husband and I stayed at the Quality Suites Central Square in North Palmerston for 3 nights. The hotel is in a good location near shops and restaurants and the square. All of the staff were friendly and attentive. The room was clean and bright with lots of plugs for charging our electronics. I loved the shower! Our only concern was the facility itself. The door handle was missing on the fire door. The telephone in our room didn't work and was not repaired during our stay. A big concern was the guest laundry room. It was filled with dirty hotel laundry. One washer was inoperable and the other leaked water all over the floor (but the dryers were great).. Underground parking was challenging as the spaces are quite small and instructions on how to park properly were not made clear. There are many different types of rooms/suites available but the online descriptions were confusing. The hotel has great potential because the staff are so hard working and the location is great...maybe it just needs a little time.

Great location as there were a good range of shops & restaurants with walking distance. I love the fact that there is a kitchenette with everything you need and it was nice to have options of various tea & coffee.

The cleanliness of the room was top notch and especially appreciated a particular staff member’s efforts, Ashish who went above and beyond to make our stay more enjoyable.

Highly recommend

Toilet ran consistently, TV remote control batteries need replacing, shower door needs fixing, security latch on door not attached securely to wall - it could just be pulled out, hotel laundry ran all night and with the door being kept wide open at all times it could be heard in our room opposite all night long resulting in minimal sleep. All issues were brought to the receptionist’s attention on checkout - they were very flippant and dismissing. We will NOT be staying here again in spite of its great location as being able to actually sleep through the night is a basic requirement of a hotel’s offering - sadly this basic offering was not provided.

Thank you however for the late check out so we could attend a business zoom call.

We booked the room direct through the property's website, the photos provided on the website for the room type were nothing like the room we had. Website had a spacious, light-filled room while the reality was a dark, drab grey box with tiny windows relatively high on the wall.
The TVs in the room were straight out of the 2000s. Old 4:3 aspect screens not much bigger than a laptop. We were lucky that the two TVs in the room (one in the living area, one in the bedroom) were the same as it meant we had two remotes. One remote's power button didn't work and the other remote's volume/channel up/down buttons didn't work. Quest's system also manages to leave out at least half of the free-to-air TV channels.
Our alarm clock was also broken so quite useless. At least these days you'd be using your phone anyway.
The selection of tea bags provided in the room had the look of being left behind by a succession of previous occupants. There were 5 black tea bags from 4 different brands.
On the plus side the room was quite clean!

Didn't even get to finalise a re-booking as trying to communicate with this place was like banging your head against a wall.

When our original online booking for 4 individual travelers needed to change to three, we tried to arrange an alternative.

Info on the website suggested it was possible, but trying to clarify the room options plus the fact that it wasn't one of the regularly complained about rooms was a non starter. Long time lapse in the email responses and even then, most specific questions were not answered and/or answers were vague. This may have been down to the level of English, a lack of effort put into the response, lack of knowledge or purely an unwillingness to commit.

When I followed up and spoke to another individual, late afternoon (as I'd not heard back from my email follow-up, the day before) it was apparent that he (Doug) wanted to push me off the call and back to email as quickly as possible and requested I submit details via email. I responded that they already had my details from prior emails along with unanswered questions and he promised someone would get back to me. I gave it a couple of hours, gave up and booked somewhere else.

Didn't even get a 'thank you' for taking the time to email through all of the mistakes on their website copy, at the time of my original booking, that they had subsequently corrected.

I only persevered as long as I did because a spot on the Square, where we were attending an event, would have been preferable to the short walk but [shrug].

Ironically, they replied shortly after I'd booked somewhere else, to confirm a booking option albeit at a higher rate than previously quoted.

I am corporate traveler. I have stayed here many times. It has everything that might need. However the management seem unable to get out of their way to deliver a quality product or customer experience. The impression is that they are only interested in the money - poor maintenance, lack lustre cleaning. Disappointing. 2 visits ago I complained about a toilet seat falling off - apparently that was the cleaners fault, and on this my final visit, in another room, toilet seat loose, floor sticky in living area, and beds made up as two singles, despite a request for a queen room. When I asked to change they were fully booked - couldn't help, but when I said I was leaving, they said they would sort it out in 5 minutes. No thank you. Plenty of options in the city without having to put up with this. Never again!

Avoid unless you enjoy sleeping in a room that smells of cooking oil and bedding with unidentified stains. Room was disgusting and l left after one night. Was forced to pay for the 4 nights. Check onerous cancellation policy. Was not disclosed when I made the reservation in person at the front desk. The videos of the rooms at reception are way out of date and do not represent the current condition of the rooms. Parking provided (at a fee) in the building basement is an obstacle course to access. Overall a total failure and rip off.

This place is under new management. It’s surprisingly cheap for such a good location, right on the city square, and really good in room facilities for self catering, including a dishwasher drawer.
I stayed in an apartment with a separate bedroom, which had plenty of wardrobe room.
The downside was the outside noise, mainly the air conditioners of the building which are outside the first storey of the hotel. It is still good value, but bring earplugs.
