Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Best Hostel I've stayed at in Aus. And definitely your best option to stay at in kalgoorlie, if you don't mind the hostel type ambiance. The owner's are amazing people that are always trying to do what's best for the community. The facilities are clean, even if the showers can be a little finicky between the hot and cold water, but nothing dramatic, the kitchen is also good and well equipped. There is a free parking for residents, a nice outside area with a very good BBQ, a swimming pool (closed during winter). The rooms aren't packed with people, so everyone has space for their stuff and some, which is so nice to have in a hostel. And the ambiance between all the residents is great! Everyone is quite friendly and gets along with everyone and activities are often organised between the residents. Overall couldn't recommend this hostel enough for anyone trying to stay in kalgoorlie, and will definitely be back myself.

Much love x
Leo

Been in the hostel for the last 6 months and honestly its one of the best hostels I have stayed in Australia. Its quiet hostel during the week as almost everyone working but very good and positive vibes in the weekend. Managment of the hostel are great and ready to help you in any possible way they can which makes you feel treated as one of the big family. Its a very clean hostel, rooms are big and spacious and not too crowdy so you will feel comfortable during your stay. Kitchen can be sometimes dirty especially during peak hour when everyone is trying to cook but as most of the hostels they try to keep it nice and tidy. Toilets and showers cleanliness is very good. There is a lounge with big tv, playstation and netflix going on which we watch movies almost every night. There is a big pool with deckchairs completed with a nice bbq area which often we have free bbq nights with all food and beer paid by the managment. Unfortunately i had to leave Kalgoorlie, which i will miss all our friendships but definitely will stay here if i come back. I wish i could give more than 5 star rating.

When I did first moved to Kalgoorlie I did stay at the Gold dust BACKPACKER and as soon we did arrived we were nice welcomeed by the HOSTEL Managers and did fell in the Gold rush love that we were looking for and the hostel guest been straight from the beginning very welcomeed so meet fast new good friends and liked the nice atmosphere and liked the big rooms and big kitchen. The HOSTEL has got as well for the summer months a nice little swimming pool wich is very nice for the summer and a barbeque area and an outdoor sitplace. Also it is located close to the city center only 4min walk to major supermarkets wich is handy. And it is very pleasant that the Hostel managers are very helpful and and very friendly and they try to make your stay as pleasant as possible wich is very nice. And liked the big tv and play station and the nice vibe and car parking. Its an awsome place to come and stay and play and enjoy Kalgorlie. 5 Stars from me easy.

This is the worst YHA that I have stayed so far. This place was occupied by a lot of longer term workers who used the backpacker as their temporary home. Very noisy at night. People stay up all night talking and watching TV. We stayed in a twin share room, and I was bitten by bed bugs. The manageress refused to believe me. We booked for 3 nights and in the end we left arfter 2 nights, and they refused to refund the 3rd night. The hostel was dirty, and at the time I was there, they failed the health inspection. Avoid this backpacker at all cost!

The manageress runs this hostel with her partner and they do a good job as well. It is situated in walking distance from the center of Kalgoorlie. The facilities are not that overwhelming, but Shannon (manager) makes you feel at home from the first moment. No stuffing up rooms if not necessary (I shared my dorm with only one person for my entire two week stay). There are two tv areas. When the manageress had time guests without a car were offered a ride to wherever they needed/ wanted to go, for example a nice park which was a few kilometers away or a job agency in Boulder. Good weekly rate deals!!!

A smallish hostel with tv, internet, laundry, swimming pool. A good size kitchen sometimes not enough pots and pans at busy times. Room size's pretty good bathroom and toilets kept very clean The manageress runs a tight but fair ship. Fairly close to town centre and about 15 - 20 minute drive to airport.. Yes I would stay here again.

I lived in this hostel for few months. And it’s really clean, the rooms are nice, i felt like home.
The managers are very nice, helpful to listen to each customer, if you have any problem or questions don’t hesitate to ask them. You can count on them.
Trust me this hostel is awesome !

After exploring outside of Perth I decided to stop off in Kalgoorlie and find a place to stay. With the cheapest rooms I decided to give Golddust a try. I saw from the sign that it's under new management and from what I could see they have really turned the place around. The communal areas are very clean and tidy, my room was absolutely spotless with new bedding, and nice furniture and the place is in a great location. It's honestly one of the nicest hostels I have ever been to!!!

Location: On the edge of the town centre in a mainly car lot area. Not pretty but not at all noisy and good to get into town and be away from the hustle and bustle.

Staff: Just seemed to be the one lady running it. She was friendly enough and helpful.

Room: Basic but exceptionally clean and quite large.

Common areas: Clean and functional and of decent size. Internet access, 20 mins for $2, kitchen ok, big TV for use and swimming pool!

Showers: First class and spotless. Very impressed.

All in all this really was a surprise. I expected it to be average but it was great. The lady who ran it runs a tight ship so you can't fool around and be noisy. But she wasn't strict either. Perfect for families and groups who want a bit of peace without being told what to do exactly. Would stay there again.
