Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Shipwreck Bay Holiday Park is connected to Surfside Park but is a cheaper option. We went there with our caravan earlier this year during a long weekend and stayed for five days. We had a fantastic time, particularly as we went with our kids and this caravan park is located at walking distance to Lake Pertobe Park and extended Playground and basically near the beach. The price is much lower than the other Caravan Parks that are around. Facilities are not new but clean, functional and practical. A small fish and chips shop is at the entry, very practical to buy something to eat quickly, cheap but good. Warrnambool Foreshore Promenade goes between the caravan park and the beach, making it very practical for walking or going with the pushbike. The beach is very nice, wide enough to sunbath, play sports, jog or walk.
The site itself was leveled, large enough and with access to water and power. Manager helped us locate our site even though we have arrived late in the evening after a long trip from Melbourne.
Please note that nights could be a bit cold if not in the middle of summer. Locals confirmed that actual warm period is end of December and January, the rest of the summer is colder.
As our last day was a Sunday and checkout was in the morning as per usual, the management allowed us to let the caravan parked there for the rest of the day as we enjoyed our day in town before picking it up to go home. They said they're trying to do that every time is possible and they don't have someone else booked in a site.

Staff were welcoming and helpful. Our site was well located and roomy. Park is located right beside the beach, with walking paths on both sides and surrounded by lots of things to do - mini golf, playgrounds, maze, boats, fun fair, beach, etc etc
I was pleased to see the park being patrolled by security when I got up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet. Toilet block was old but clean, showers were hot and untimed!

Stayed 2 nights which was enough. Sites really small and everyone is packed in like sardines. Very busy during the day but quiet enough at night. Amenities were ok at the times I used them considering the amount of people using them. Would not stay again.

Not the first time to this park, lovely atmosphere, clean and close facilities, well laid out park, will definitely visit again, incredible value for money. Safe and secure, right on the beach, wasn't over full with guests, allowing a little extra room to move

We stayed at this caravan park on the long weekend while we played in a tennis tournament. The park is quite spacious even when quite full and the toilet and shower facilities were very good. Pets are allowed most of the year as well. Highly recommend as it is very close to the surf beach and walking tracks. Five minute drive to shops

Great location on the beach. Pretty decent facilities although could do with an upgrade and spruice up. Can be a little noisy at night if youre looking for a quiet getaway. We were there amongst a nippers weekend although. For such a big park, i think it needs more cooking areas. The map showed 1 lot of bbqs. We didnt search but thats all we seen. Good little kiosk and pizza shop on the corner.

Stayed at Shipwrecked Bay Holiday Park for the Labour Day long weekend. Our booking was made on the Thursday before the long weekend. There was no problem booking in on the website. An access code was texted on the day of arrival, so getting into the park was trouble free.
This is a big park, but signage is good, so finding our site was easy. The sites are a good size for our camper trailer.
Amenities are old and dated, but generally clean. Access to the beach, parks and town are good.

This park is run by the Warrnambool council as is the surf side park down the road.
I have stayed at both now and I would say the surf side is better.
The grounds themselves at Ship Wreck are OK, but the toilet floor was always wet and covered in a layer or sandy dirt.
The park was very busy, although the bins should still be emptied regally, (They were not).
The park is cheaper than others for a reason.
