Detailed Reviews
Our large family group had lunch here after a funeral and the 10 people at our table all enjoyed their meals. I ordered a cauliflower salad with calamari and was pleasantly surprised by the tender calamari and the fresh, tasty and attractively presented salad veggies. The floor around the bar area was quite sticky but the staff were friendly and our drinks were reasonably priced. Recommended.

Went to the Caledonian Hotel for dinner: nice bistro area with a good, reasonably priced menu. Plenty of gluten free options to choose from: I had an excellent pork belly and my wife a good stuffed chicken dish. located on the outskirts of the CBD, nearby parking was plentiful.

We went there for lunch as it advertised all day dining. There was a good menu with specials including the $16 lunch. There was also a good range of beer and wine. Both our meals were plentiful and well presented. The staff were friendly and helpful. Worth the visit.

We stopped in Hamilton as part of a bigger road trip and decided to eat at the "Cally", really glad we did the food is top quality and well priced. If you are here it is worth stopping in. The staff are friendly and the beer and wine are well priced and refreshing after a day on the road.

Passing through Hamilton on the way to Apollo Bay. Stopped on Thompson Street for petrol and asked the attendant if the pub over the road was acceptable for a feed. He said yes. We entered and walked through the front bar into the dining area. The first thing both my partner and I noticed was the floor was very sticky under foot (to the point it sounded like suckers being popped off). The toilet floors were the same and even the table tops were sticky. I don't know what cleaning products are used (if any), but they're terrible. There's no sense of cleanliness whatsoever. We ordered basic food. Me a burger with chips and my partner a chicken and salad ciabatta roll. When brought to us, it was easy to see both meals were not made with any care at all. It looked as though it was slapped together by someone that took food from a disgusting bain-marie in the dining area. Seriously, $40 for terrible food in a filthy pub, how dare that be passed off as acceptable. The coffee on offer was pod coffee (I don't mind that), and when the bar lady grabbed a mug to make a coffee, it was filthy and I could sense the embarrassment. The cup was taken away, along with several other cups and washed. There was no care about what was served or the environment it was served in. If I ever pass through Hamilton again, I will avoid the Caledonian like the plague.....and you should too if you know what's good for you. Shame on you! Disgusting!

My review is for the bistro, I ate on my own whilst in town for work. The meal took ages to arrive but the moment I began wondering where my meal was, the staff appeared and offered a drink on the house. When the meal came, it was steaming hot and beautiful - it was pork ribs and one of the best pub meals I've had for a while. The meat literally fell off the bone and melted in the mouth.
A special mention to Alyssa who really looked after me - thank you

The meal took ages to arrive but the moment I started wondering where my meal was, the staff appeared and offered me a drink on the house. When the meal arrived, it was beautiful - probably the best pub meal I've had for ages - it was the prom ribs and the meat literally fell off the bone and melted in the mouth. Thanks will definitely come again the next work trip.

Went to the Cally for a meal tonight whilst in town for work...
Bistro fully booked (that's OK). Sat in the front bar. Ordered the Beef Schnitzel with gravy chips and salad. When it finally came out it had been so deep fried it was a dark brown colour. The crumb coating was oily and had an old cooking oil type of taste. The meat was dry and tough. The schnitzel had been in the deep fryer so long it had curled up.. I wouldn't bother going to the Cally for a feed.

3 bar staff but just 2 were interested in being there.
Need to lift there game! Meet and greet the customer with affection not just walk away from the customer.
Bar was empty and both TV,s on ABC. Would this encourage anyone to stay?

I’ve now become a regular at the Cally Sunday sessions. No better way to finish off the weekend than chilling to some live music in the beer garden with good friends, cold drinks and delicious tucker. The staff are always very welcoming. Keep up the good work!
