Detailed Reviews
Been to Kinchant a few times, it's a good spot for a short break, very basic but very friendly staff are very accommodating. There are some lovely spots to camp around the dam & it is a great place to relax & just enjoy the view & sit around the camp fire. Great little pub & good food.

Really nice location on dam but all aspects of the "leisure park" leave a lot to be desired. However it is cheap so you get what you pay for! We were camping so can't comment on the cabins.
No staff on arrival and just left to our own. Showers are more communal with little privacy or space for towels clothes. Yes they were clean and all the rubbish bins were clean and emptied regularly
Poor or no lighting on paths.
Overall very rundown and needs an influx of investment capital, new ammenities. Don't believe what you see on the website.

Good basic amenities, with great waterfront camping spots perfect for a fishing weekend. Has a bar onsite, but didn't eat at it so can't comment on the food. We had a quick overnight stay over the Easter weekend, and they were very accommodating squeezing us into the busy park. No it's nothing flash, but you are camping after all! We will be back.

Lovely spot right on the water. Can literally walk straight from camp to the waters edge to your boat as others had set up or kayak. Lots of water birds around the Lilly pads and spent a great afternoons kayaking around. Staff were friendly and happy to move me to a better site after asking about my setup. Toilets and showers were clean and tidy. Has an on site restaurant and bar available for those who don’t feel like cooking.

Just spent a couple of days here and really enjoyed it. We camped unpowered at the middle paddock which gave us great views over the dam. Nicely cleared grounds. Amenities not the most modern, but were kept clean. Great water pressure in the showers. Staff very friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to do a return trip.

We booked this location on the strength of advertising and photos on the website. Turns out many of the photos are of properties nearby. While the location is very pleasant but isolated, Cabins are dinghy, very small and have many safety issues.... for the price, we should have been paid to stay here! No lighting on pathways especially to the showers and toilets. Taps on sinks were green with verdigrease and window spaces were completely open. In the room two of the power points did not work so we could not turn on the airconditioner which haad the front broken. Hooks for hanging clothing were about seven feet high. There was not enough room for bags and the four people which the very small room was supposed to accommodate. The top bunk did not have an access ladder and the dangerous air conditioner protruded onto it. Louvre windows were falling out an the fly screens were filthy and damaged. A step external to the door was dangerous and did not have markings to warn it was there in the poorly lit annex. A Makeshift kitchen with two fridges (One working with damaged handle, the other not working) and no sink or tap was in an open space between two of the units and in a messy state. We are not impressed that we were charged $50 for one night in such a grotty cabin. When staying in the Mackay Region in future, we will book reputable accommodation in the city, even if we have to drive many kilometres to attend outlying areas.

Stopped in for the night to get out of the weather. Stayed in cabin number no. 9. We moved in and the rodents moved out, toilets, shower and kitchen are filthy, as we picked up the bedding it fell apart as critters had been eating it. Toilet did not work. We touched as little as we could, didn't shower and got out of there as soon as we could when the rain had stopped in the morning. Very disappointed and felt ripped off.

Spent the weekend at Kinchant Waters park for the last time. In hindsight, we should have looked at the previous reviews on TripAdvisor, Facebook and WikiCamps before even getting in the car. We've been to Kinchant Waters for a number of trips with friends and family, however, it seems we aren't the only ones that think the ball has been dropped over the past few months.
It took 4 phone calls to arrange our trip due to staff being unavailable, lack of communication and just plain lack of answering the phone. Upon arrival there was confusion about our sites. We didn't receive the sites that we asked for, because of miscommuncation or pure laziness to explain to me, the customer, that the site I requested was actually number 4, not number 3. We settled for the ones we were given; but really, that was the least of our problems.
Night 1, Friday, was a nightmare. We were lucky to get 2 hours sleep. It's one thing to tell the noisy campers to turn their unbearably loud music down before you tucked yourself comfortably up into bed, but it's a whole other story when you as management won't take responsibilty for persons who have total disregard for the rest of the paying customers in your park.
Saturday, we expected to have a quiet day of resting (from our lack of sleep the night before) and some water sports. Our peacefulness was suddenly interrupted by a bus full of belligerant bucks party goers. Don't get me wrong, they were rowdy, but respectful. They came, they drank, and they left. What was the most disappointing was how the ameneties were left once they had left, and the fact that they stayed like that until the following morning! There was vomit and urine in all of the bathrooms, unflushed, blocked toilets and rubbish. If i could add images to reviews, i would - but im not sure if Facebook would allow such content.
Saturday night, the ear bleeding continued, this time the white noise was coming from the bar. Unrehearsed, half sung songs, bad karaoke and speaker feedback filled the surroundings, leaving our poor UE Boom struggling to even get over the top of it. Getting to the filthy ameneties was made even harder by a food fight in the bar which saw the majority of someones cake, icing and cream plastered all over the floor - which too, wasn't cleaned until around 11am the next morning.
Overall, a pretty putrid weekend.
Couple of tips for next people who check reviews before visiting your establishment so they don't have the same experience:
1. The shower block needs a good gurney - pack thongs
2. They need a bigger pump for the toilet flushing or BYO plunger.
3. Bring your noise cancelling headphones or ear plugs as neither of these products are available to purchase at the bar.
4. If you plan on writing a negative review, please refrain from using the rickety canoe as this is reserved for positive review-givers only.
5. If you plan on writing a negative review, be prepared for a unprofessional spray of abuse from management.
Kinchant Waters, there's no need to create more problems for your business in your quest to be keyboard warriors. It will take more time to respond to me than it does to clean your showers and toilets and have a short conversation with each of your guests on check-in, and your musicians about having respect for their surroundings.
All the best for improving your park in the future.

Our family were visiting so we took them out to Kinchant dam. We drove up to the bar and parked. From out of nowhere a male was standing at my window screaming at me saying, “ can’t you read”?! I was so confused and said, sorry what do you mean? He then said, “that is the exit you drove in”! (It’s a dam where people camp)He was becoming enraged and I was scared he was about to punch me through the window of my car in front of my mother, daughter and granddaughter. He kept abusing me when my husband drove up and he walked off. My mum was shaking. I got out of car still trying to comprehend what just happened when noticed staff laughing with this male and high fiving✋🏻 (congratulating) him.
Upon reflection I thought what if I was a single female in that situation? Very scary thought!
Staff should be ashamed of themselves and reported!

Our family stayed there and it’s a lovely spot, with amazing views. There was a party on the Friday night with a band that played till 12pm which was reasonable however there were others whom were very intoxicated that played very loud crude music till 4am. After asking multiple times with multiple people asking also for them to turn the music down they didn’t. Tried calling the after hours no. and no answer then spoke to the manager the following morning. The manager said they had spoken to them around 12pm and otherwise seemed unconcerned. The amenities also were ‘shocking’, the toilets were dirty and clogged most of the time and we were unable to have a shower as they were unhygienic. We would visit again for a day trip but would not consider staying the night unless the conditions improved and it was more family friendly.
